thanks. but now i ve discovered the original ops1.mis (857kb) won´t load, only the test version.

the mesh.zip and mesh.bin for example have the same contents and size inside, but why the hell its the .zip files are date 08/2000 and higher sizes, while the .bin files came from the pc version, in 1999.

the .zip files might be useless after all, like the pc version, if you delete .bin files the game won´t boot.

well, now i ve found that the my test copy without menu and disc alterations have IA, if you turn back to the other box the enemy will start to attack, and if you play a bit the framerate will be a little better.

bad news, i think we can´t go further, the reason of modified menu and not loading the original ops1.mis (857kb) was because i ve forgot the intrface from TECH folder, and if you extract the files from intrface you will see modified of created files in 2000, sadly its the only root .crf file to be converted for the dreamcast.

maybe there is a little chance to go further, remember the root .zip files like mesh, which there is also a .crf version? if the .zip files are converted into .bin maybe something happens, since they were supposed modified in 2000, but have the same contents from the pc version and dates inside.

hey gamer_s did you find the included disc from the devkit?

Most of the assets I bothered to compare from this DC version and the PC version (unpatched retail CD) were identical iirc. Probably would have been seeing as how close Half-Life DC and Half-Life PC ended up being to the point where someone managed to get it to run Counter-Strike.

Does the game still play as slowly as it did initially or has that been improved? Looking for a reason to bother overclocking my Dreamcast.

my fault is not .bin its .crf, a file type created for system shock 2 and thief 2.

looks like after messing around it started to be a bit more faster

and i ve possibly modded something, i ve managed to have the pc version menu and turntable vb disc with the grey color

i think i ve already gone far, i don´t have a devkit (nor even know how to do something), and don´t know which file makes actions like open doors, there are only moviment controls (except on july exe, which don´t have intro, menu and controls), i don´t know where they are from.

APE ive saw your post about the TECH path and files that don´t exist, unfortunately they also don´t exist on the pc version.

well i ve modified the ops1 test, added the shotgun grunt, the game loaded but it have a black screen, doing moar research.

man i think i ve wasted 30 cds on this game.

EDIT: burned another cd with some files overwrited and it worked, the shotgun grunt appears, but have only black textures.

modified the ops1.mis deleted some things until delete the door, i ve managed to pass there, but i ve deleted polito body, but the textures in this area are the same from dc version.

well, i ve think someone could post about the dreamcast version on TTLG forums, they could help, and even modify the game

here is a "tutorial" to mod

1 - download the dromED http://www.sshock2.com/shocked/resources.asp, and extract on the root folder of system shock 2, ITS NOT RECOMMENDED TO USE ON SELF INSTALLED HD MODELS, USE THE ORIGINAL VERSION.

2 - execute the dromED.exe if you see a error saying that need the cd, just press cancel

3 - go to file, open , select the 357kb version ops1.mis, the reason to not recommend the 857kb version its because i don´t know what the max size .mis the game will load

4 - if you know how to use, then use your imagination, but don´t put many models, it will make the game worse in framerate, and don´t pass the 857kb limit, if you do the game possibly won´t load, the risk its yours.

5 - if you are a noob like me, go to editors, object hierarchy, there will be a list, go to physical, and select lists like weapons, monsters, etc... you will see a lot of names, these are the models, click on then, and click on create.

6 - go back to the editor screen, on the left screen, left click, and select fit to region, you will se a map version of the level, right click and drag a bit on the map until it create a "line", release the button, you have created the model.

7- go to file, save a mission file, use the name ops1 or the game won´t load.

8 - after that you may want to check the level, the reason to save first because it can be crashy, and see if your wanted model is there.

    9 - download my game version http://www.megaupload.com/?d=YAYE4CX3

10- replace the older ops1. with the new one that you created.

11- create a .cdi with shoometsu selfboot script, download link http://www.box.net/shared/rfwh809cs8, code is http://www.snk-neofighters.com

12- copy all the game data to data folder, and use these options, 3, select you .cdi name, s, and hit enter on all these options.

13- check if have worked, if not, sometimes you have to hope to work, its very common to load to only have a black screen.

well, i ve found on the on the .exe

frame per second and frame per limit, but there is no number, just some kind of signs like a cylinder with a circle and a inverted L, and the .exe from pc version does not have these lines

well, overwriting some dc files to pc version, makes nothing different, except for the menu, the levels loads

    GOD FUCKING DAMMIT

i think the exe is the only hope now, but i don´t understand shit about these signs, even using .

i bet that i am almost on the 40th cd burned for this game.

    almost losing all faith.

I fully support every effort anyone makes to get something working again, but this is the exception where there's nothing that can be done. You have the drive and determination, but you're channeling it into the wrong project.

If there was something that could be done, it would have been done. Aside from the levels that hadn't been optimized (reduced geometry / texture quality), the EXE is the main problem and you can't fix that unless you either get the source to the game or create your own, but why even bother when there's a fully working PC version? The Dreamcast version is what it is and that's the whole point of an unreleased game.

So, for the one-millionth time: this game is not playable, cannot easily be made playable, and will likely remain unplayable.

yeah you re right, but i think marina games was kinda lazy (macarena) or had real problems to port, almost no progress made between 6 months.

and about thief 2, the icd is used by securom and by the date, is was the same from the launch date, so the development was at 0,1% percent, i think if you add the .exe it will be a full pc game.

most weird part is, why his devkit contained system shock 2, if even the developer and publisher were another.

and now i have interest to buy one day a katana dev kit.

ressurecting for moar useless information, the ops1.mis test have messed lighting, used the 857kb, and show textures, rather than black objects.

gamer_s have you ever found the CD? because there are missing files in the TECH folder.

Just found the disc two days ago. Files were uploaded today. Just waiting on the admin of Dreamcast-Talk to provide the link for where to download the zipped file from.

Don't quote me on this until it's confirmed by someone that really looks through the files, but source code for both games might be in this release (at the very least partial - at the most, full). It doesn't appear to be the DC port source - just PC code.

well ive checked, and seems to be, at the least by some folders contain the name src

most files can be open by dev c++, there are files from thief 2 and system shock, and also a bind files from quake and unreal.

could not find any .exe for both games, except some programs and dromED.

EDIT: just put the thief2.exe on the thief 2 folder and you can play in pc, but you start in a empty box, the possibly file is miss1.mis, the size is 233kb.
