Possible PlayStation3 design?

wow...wtf.

that thing is huge as hell if you use the memory card slot as reference. They are doing ps2 backwards compatibility, so where are the ps2 controller slots?

 

i hat mock-ups in general, but i like this one (am i the only one?), it kinda returns into the 32-bit era designs, wich is pretty cool, imo.

 

Actually, if this had a vertical stand, it would look like a grandfather clock. Notice how the cds just "go in" without a drive that comes out.

 

Why couldnt it use the PS3 controller as input for PS2 games? Odds are it will remain Pretty much like the DualShock 1 / 2...just wireless.

I don't thing it is real but I do like that second pic for some reason I can't explain. It kinda reminds me of a late eighties boombox that got its left speaker chopped pff. It would be cool if the PS3 can play UMD disc's too.

 

well that mockup obviously stands up since the word Sony is vertical.

That second mock-up, that says "UMD" on it at least LOOKS like something Sony would design.

They've never been big on wierdo curvy designs, that first mock-up would never fly at Sony.

I think it'll look cool, I honestly think all their hardware looks cool.

Reflections like that can be photoshopped.

 

The jaggy edges on the UMD ring are a bit of a shitty way to give away that it's a fake, after you've expended the effort of editing in the reflection ;-)

 

that would be a damn good photoshop. It could be a render of what the prototype looks like. Didnt sony release renders of the psp?

like this one alot too! it doesn't look like a toy at all, but anyway, it looked too much fake. Especially those complexe buildings behind and all. Remember kids, if you want to fake something and make it pass like the real thing, make it look the simpliest way possible.:smt045

...because everyone know a faker will do the most complex things to not make it look like fake.

It's probably fake, which is what always happens when a console is mass-hyped. Whatever the case, that's a pretty hot design. Heh.. you can even make out a power-switch in the top-left corner of the top-view picture.
