    Sony PSP - TOTALLY FREE!

My previous PSP purchases cost me an alarmingly cheap $20 each, so when I complained to the store manager that one of them was supposed ot have had a good screen and didn't, he promised to give me the next broken PSP they got. His word was good as today he handed me a fully boxed PSP. It didn't work, failed to boot, but the box had the original sales receipt marked 2006. I called Sony and they have agreed to send a refurbished, but working unit to me.

I've already sold it (cheaply) to my nephew (who needs to learn the value of money & consoles as I have given him 2 PS2 and an Xbox in the past).

He gets a bargain then! Well done Sony customer support! :love2:

I trawl several second-hand stores locally looking for faulty, incomplete, damaged items. From time to time you get units that can be easily repaired, or as sometimes occurs are actually perfectly ok! My opinion is that as such items are sold to me "...as seen" then it is the responsibility of the staff to ensure they are not selling undamaged items either by accident or because they don't know how they function. I was once sold a PS2 because the guy was suspicious of the fact that the start up screen no longer moved (i.e. the little white spheres moving around), which if you know the PS2 means that the time / date needed to be updated. He had turned down several machines because of this, so I told him and he gave me a cheap one for the information. I always think people should try reading the manual first, but hey!

Even rarer are items still under warranty, which if faulty can be returned to the manufacturer.

My last 360 was an NTSC unit sold to me cheaply because someone had fried the 110v PSU when they attemped to plug it into 240v. For the sake of a second-hand PSU on eBay, I managed to obtain the console for just £60 ($120) and it was fully functional.

It doesn't always work in my favour. I have been fighting with a Playstation 2 Tool for several months and ALMOST have it working (mostly thanks to Unclejun). A bargain for £150 ($300) but then again, they are selling on Yahoo Japan fully functional for that (just not prepared to pay such high shipping costs) and one UK eBay Tool went for £175 apparently fully functional.

My advice? Hunt, hunt, hunt for bargains and learn to haggle!

Got these a couple of days ago. That was a good day :)

Also in the same time I've picked up not one, but two Sega Master System 1 consoles. One with the Snail game, one with Hang On. Car booting has been paying off lately :)

That's a good lot for a booty - most of the ones I goto are swooped on by pro games sellers who buy up all the good stuff before it's open to the public and them sell it on their stall for ebay prices.

got a near mint in box sinclair zx81 off the carboot sale yesterday for £5! and a binatone tv master for 50p! (its basically pong and variants in a digusting bright orange case) and it still works! looked nasty on my 42" hdtv tho, but still cool for something that 30yeas old!

I need to know where your carboot sales are matey as that's a couple of times you've returned home to chez toi with a bundle of nice deals under your belt. I bet the wife/partner/gfriend/bfriend (well you never know) is delighted when you dump your load of 8/16bit nonsense on the kitchen table like booty and announce your arrival!

A few years back I used to do exactly the same and ended up with a massive collection made up of things ranging from the sublime to the rediculous (such as mint boxed Classic SE mac set ups for £3 each), Dreamcast and 15 games £7 etc to the shit (several half working Amstrad CPC units). The house got jam packed and I had to sell it all off before wife 2 left me lol. Let that be a warning ;-)
