Tried it a couple of weeks ago and believe me, you'll be uninstalling it a couple of days later. At this point it has HUGE compatibility issues, and I wouldn't expect seeing them fixed at least until the first public betas.

Everyone seems to be raving about it. What problems did you have?

I tried version 6926 and as soon as I finished installing the troubles appeared.

In first place the driver compatibility drove me crazy. The first trouble was the onboard sound card, I tried every single driver available and it was no way to make it work (like I was just starting to test it I ignored this error, I have the same trouble with XP). The next thing was my SATA HDD: it didn't appear even in the Device Manager (I installed it in a partition in another IDE drive I use for stuff like this :p ), again the drivers didn't work. when I noticed that my TV tuner PCI card, my cellphone, one of my pendrives and my DVD writer (yes, the one I used to install it :banghead:) didn't work it started pissing me off.

About the programs, I think I was able to install Firefox, Winamp (I'm not really sure why did I install it since the sound card wasn't working), WinRAR and... ...Firefox? Everything else I tried to install gave me the creepiest errors I've ever seen (Including a nice "GURU MEDITATION ERROR" by Winamp)

I tried to install a couple of games too (Fallout 3 and Assasin's Creed) and both of them asked me for DirectX, which of course wouldn't work on Windows 7. I restarted, loaded Vista and formatted the Win7 HDD.

However, build 7000 is supposed to be way faster than older builds so I'll have to give it a try in the next days :D

Yeah Build 7000 is actually an early leak of the Public Beta. It runs a lot quicker then the older ones and even vista, i just run it for fun but i keep XP for my main stuff.

GURU MEDITATION ERROR? Did you manage to enrage Buddha or something..? Oh well. I have high hopes of the real release and I hope you have better luck with a future release!

I can't believe all the improvements Microsoft made from Windows 7 Build 6926 to 7000 in stability and compatibility, I never thought I would say this so soon but I'm thinking seriously about switching from Vista to 7...

I still have to make some tests (mostly games), but as far as I could test by now compatibility with Vista and XP is great, all the drivers and programs I needed worked perfectly, even the sound drivers (which I wasn't capable to install in XP or Ubuntu) got installed perfectly!

I haven't noticed all those speed improvements that everyone talk about, but probably load times are the cause of it (I'm trying it from an IDE drive), I'll try it in my SATA HDD as soon as I backup all the junk inside it (which is gonna take some time...)

Man, Shadowrun isn't bad but I can't stand the way the characters look. I do like throwing trees everywhere though.

If you can catch me sometime when I'm not falling asleep I will. I also found my headset so you can hear my beautiful voice and laughter. GTA4 is still one of the funniest times I've ever had.

Must've been WinAMP, because there's no way that made it into Windows itself.

I knew the "Guru Meditation Error" was originated with the Amiga. what called my attention was seeing it in Winamp. It wasn't a Windows error, anyway probably some Windows bug was the cause of the error appearing...

However, I just found in the Winamp forums a pic of how did this error look (it appears in the top of the screen and dissapears after a few seconds):

I installed the 7000 beta in a VM, and I was really impressed. It wasn't the fastest thing in the world, but I think it has something to do with the fact that I was running the VM on a 1.6ghz Atom and I gave it 768mb of RAM.

At any rate, I might actually purchase a copy when it's released.
