The TI 44/9A came out in 1981, I remember it well as I did like the keyboard on it, much better then some of the other crap that was out on the market so I am not surprised they were still being used well into the 90s. I know that the Museum of Science and Industry has a small office full of new ones as it has a number of exhibits that run on the said machines....
I just don't like Bud. I'm used to drink local beer brands, which are way stronger and tastier than Budweiser and stuff like that, so in some way I feel most of american beers like water...
^I love how HP always had the most "innovative" case ideas. A CD tray on the top of the case? Astounding. Maybe one of these days I will try out this America Online thing and see what the interweb is all about. Nothing wrong with a free computer, though.
Nice, I have one just like that, that I hardly use, because the graphics chip can't handle some of the games I play.
I'm thinking of selling up the HTPC and getting a laptop, put OSx86 on it. I'm taking a music program and a Mac would really be helpful, but $500-$600 won't buy you jack in the Mac world.
My HP is actually somewhat good, imo. Though I bought a gig of ram and a new video card for it. With some tweaks, it can run Dawn of War on nearly max settings (no shadows though) at high FPS. Not "normal" FPS, but high FPS. Even when lotsa crap is going on. I'd like to get another hard drive for it, so I can set my paging file to it, as well as the extra space. I hear setting your paging file to a hard drive other than a USB HD and the one with the Windows files on it makes your PC run a lot faster.
Dimension recieved a few upgrades (will post pictures later), and I picked up, yet another, PC thinking it was broken and was going to part it out. When I got it home. Orly? Also, Lolz turbo.
That was my very first computer! Late in '83 they marked them down to $50 each at K-Mart and there was a mob at the door waiting for the store to open. It was crazy with people pushing and shoving and running back to the electronics dept. but I got mine and was in TI BASIC heaven! 10 STAMPEDE 20 GOTO 10 RUN
Lol me too! Taemos are those speakers worth 50$? I was going to get those sometime. Is the bass controllable? i'm in an apartment. =(
It's controllable, but even at the lowest setting it still puts out some fairly heavy bass. I had these in a dorm and played everything at all hours of the night, but my the people in my dorm were cool for the most part so I don't know how your neighbors would be on that end. As far as the speakers go, I love them. When I used a Turtle Beach USB sound card on my laptop these things sounded amazing. They still sound good on my desktop, but the integrated and the SoundBlaster I just bought don't quite do them justice and I'm thinking about getting a nicer sound card when money permits. Edit: This was the only mousepad Staples had that didn't have a giant American flag plastered on it. I like drops of water, though, so it's all good
