I'm in a college apartment, so its not too much better. But I'm content with it. I honestly think that high-def is overrated. It only furthers the idea that a games overall quality is proportional to how good it looks, rather than how it plays.
true, but after playing on a VGA screen in native VGA/progressive scan signal (15Khz games clearly belong on a TV for me), there's no compromise, honestly. Tubes are way to bulky to place anywhere in the dorm room too.
Er, I don't believe they make VGA cables for the PS3. If he had a cheap LCD, though, he could probably use DVI.
They don't. You can buy a component to VGA adaptor nevertheless, for about 50 bucks. That's how i connect my wii to the monitor.
:110: It`s just that my Wii is in the living room on a 36in TV...and with the set up I can stand it up but on the floor....but lay it down and it sits in nicely with the dvd player, xbox and cable box Whereas in my gaming office I could have it standing up but no room to swing around, seated only Will try and get it up later (pics) ;-)
The wii looks as good vertically (with the stand) as horizontally (I guess horizontally it looks more in-place with other video equipment found in a modern living room)
I had no idea there was an adaptor for that! Does it look good? Cus I could hook a Wii to my nice wide moniter and screw buying a new tv.
Yes, its good. In order to test it, I connected my 360 via component+component VGA box and then compared it to the official VGA solution. The only advantage was that the official VGA solution makes the 360 aware of a monitor thus offering a wide range of resolutions such as the half-assed attempt (for game like Gears of War and PGR3) of 1280x1024. The Wii (especially US/NTSC, as LCD monitors DO NOT do 50hz, while CRT DO, I experienced this with the XBOX 360 PAL as it tried to set to 480p@50Hz) should be FINE. the product isn't anything flashy, but uses an external power supply, which is good (no deduction from the carrying current). I got mine on ebay, it's this: Lik-sang used to sell them, quite successfully too! It can output to TWO VGA screens at the same time!
