The snow pushed down branches last week, crossed the lines
and fried my fiber optic ont and router

I get back online and the main pc suffered a fatal error in the raid array
due to the surge, and the encryption failed. Lost my primary pc drives
with the data, 99% was backed up but I lost all my bookmarks
and my ebay search engine I made... It corrupted the encrypted volume.

I have packages to send and I will have to have some sort of
fire sale this week as I am down a pc.

I wish you all good luck from now on.
Dont like power surges or any HDD killing phenomena.
again, I wish and pray to all the Gods I know exist to give you in the end a very good last 2 month of the year.

It doesn't worry me too much, it's something I can't get upset about.

When you have something as important as that you need to get good surge protectors, Id've presumed you'd have them but heres hoping you can get back on your feet quickly!

Geez man, it seems you can't catch a break right now; it's just one thing after another. Oh well, it's shitty times like these that make the good times seem that much better. Just keep staying positive and try to recover.

Man, luckily you had your stuff backed up.

I would give up if I lost all my data. I would fall off the grid.

Glad to read most of it was backed up!
I don't see why you can't be upset about it, but I'm glad to see you're taking it easy.

Not sure what I'd do if the same happened to me, but I just remembered I should update some backups...

I am back online but it's so painful to have to start with nothing again, a pc becomes
like a lover after a while; comforting and familiar

Not all surge protectors will actually protect under 100% of conditions. If you read the packaging you'll find this out quickly.

Could you replace the hard drive board to make it work again?

Most surge protectors won't do shit anyway, even those that do sometimes only work for one major surge.

It was a nasty storm anyway a week or two back.

Glad you're back online Kev, I know what you mean about starting on a empty PC.. Well it's better than no PC.

Power surge damage seems to be much much more common in the states than anywhere else.. When I was a member of overclock.net there'd be threads up every day with something dying due to power surges.

I've always got a decentish surge protector for my PC, despite the PC not being worth much.

    Chrome FTW.

Syncs bookmarks and extensions. After losing my bookmarks so many times, its the feature i like the most.
