I really liked the first part of the game, the bar,the music, then the green alien lights...Had a different feel for sure.

    Just for reference.

AMD 64 3200-6600gt-1gig ram..game ran great dont know exact FPS, but it was 100% playable at all times with all settings on high.(auto detect).

Damn, then I'll have to save to get a new, better video card. And I also need a new hard drive. Damn!

    Thanks for the tip!

Iv'e just played the x360 demo - well done! Nice new idea's and probably the coolest (first?) use of Blue Oyster Cult's 'Don't Fear the Reaper' ever in a videogame! ;-)

Runs very well on the 360 too.

Yeah just played the 360 version as well, a lot of the designs are a little too generic (aliens and guns especially) but I liked the portals/gravity bar things. Thoroughly enjoyed it, even though it took 6 hours to download...

I cant even get my 360 to stay connected to live. Every time I go back to tv or something the connection dies..ugh. This will take forever!

I've played both versions, and from what I can tell, the 360 version appears to be using Trilinear filtering, as opposed to Anisotropic. Other than that, they are graphically near identical.

But the biggest problem with the 360 version is that the online lag makes multiplayer practicaly unplayable. However, this is something that could be fixed before release, and will likely be fixed by a eventual patch, ala Call of Duty 2.

Anyway, the game has less combat than I expected and more of a thinking man's fps. Hopefully the later stages will have puzzels just as interesting as the demo and that the portals/spirit walking/everyhing else staying fresh and unique till the end. But so far it's the most interesting and promising fps of the year.

I wonder how this would run on a dual core 1.6hz laptop with a 256MB x1400 and 1GB of RAM?

Obviously not well on the medium setting...?

Is it just me.. or does the 360 Version have a over the top Fish eyed lens camera!? compared to the pc.

Spinning around 360 on the spot shows how bad it is.

I have not played the PC version, but I noticed it was a little "odd" and made me feel a bit funny for the first 10 minutes.

just played the demo for the first time. This game is really impressive. It's funny to go ahead on walls and so on. The story seems to be good, too. And the graphics look awesome and runs so smooth in 1600x1200 with my 6800GT.

edit: I have read about this game for the first time in a 3DFX brochure years ago. I got it with my first PC in February 1998 which had a 3DFX Voodoo 1 3D accelerator. I was so proud to own a 3D accelerator. At that time it was something special. Anyway I still have this brochure and I thought it would be nice to share some pictures:

Just tried out the demo, and surprisingly it runs very well using my ageing Radeon 9800pro. The game does still need a bit of work it seems. their were a few times when i'd get stuck while climbing stairs, and the characters joints deform quite badly (even the main characters). I also agree with the monsters being too generic comment someone made.

    same situation here.
    the game looks awesome, though.
i'm really looking forward to it, although i'm not particulary fond of the indian mythology/alien crossover theme.

did anyone else beside me find the main characters wannabe girlfriend kinda ugly? would be great if they could improve the character models to be on par with hl2 or quake4.

also, nothing beats a freshly drafted "eule auge bier". ;)

Well Ifinally downloaded the dem and tried it last saturday, my opinion:

The game runs smooth, in fact I think guys with budget PCs can get an almost high quality at XGA with no slowdowns. BTW, dont forget to turn vertical sync on! before that I could turn without a pixelation from 1998...

The game looks good, the portals and grav-paths are awesome but the hype wears out quickly. Although it makes for a great number of puzzles and weird situations. I expect some improvements in the final, so it doesnt ends like yet another FPS with extra goryness like Quake4, which BTW I found excessive, and too "90s violent games" for its own good.

What I think is great is that they are making a game that does what it's suppose to do, defy reality: I'm sick of games that try to emulate reality, reality sucks! thats why I'm playing. One of the reason I dont like RPGs is that you've to work instead of playing: collect gold, special items, etc... And in MMORPGs like WoW it doesnt matters who's the best player, at the end any idiot who bought an uber-powered character to some dude in ebay (or anywhere they do) will kick your ass...

Prey defies conventional FPS gaming and reality, all at the same time.

PS: I dont know if they should pick on the whole native american stuff. They dont like when mass media picks on their culture and seeing the massive amount of politicians using games as an easy target I cant imagine what they're going to do if they see this game...
