I say ebay too. Someone told me a Sonic beta was artificially inflated here when another bidder said he was going to buy it for everyone to share. Don't know if that story is true, but ebay is the way to go. Just be careful what you put in the description.

A little bit off the price issue: the date on the disc is 4 months before the release date. Think there is any cut maps on it? (since that would be the main draw of the disc). If you have the ability to, boot up the disc and see if there is anything that is not in the final. More info = more hype, and more money.

    Hey guys,

Sorry i'm not doing a massive reply, its too late and i'm tired so i'm off to bed.

However i will say, yeah i'm in the UK, but will be willing to send anywhere really.

As for the disk contents etc, please read below or a few posts earlier.

    -------------------

To answer the above question, that is indeed half of what ive always thought, and been told.

I did try to boot the disk in an X3 modded console, but it began to load, didn't get so far and became stuck, when i pressed this thing to agree it made an xbox dashboard type of sound and repeated to do so everytime i pressed agree, i managed to boot the disk this far only a couple of times before it wouldn't boot anymore. If i'm honest i think the DVD drive is totaled!

I belive Halo 2 was actually coded in a very short space of time considering the game it is, so 4 months would have lead to many changes before launch, a friend of mine had told me i could expect to find alot of different aditions possible things such as, different menus, maps and game types etc, i was told it may be possible it could have the other truck thing they were going to include but removed abit just before launch.

If i'm honest ive not a clue, all i can say is, i really don't know how i can find out anymore information due to my lack of knowlege on this stuff, if someone can give me some detailed stuff to try if possible i'd be more than happy to do so.

Sorry i can't be of much more help on that, if only i learned how to program maybe i could have actually done something cool with this myself. :110:

I'm considering eBay, but i'm not sure, ive been in touch with Kevin aswell, not sure what will happen with that.

    Cheers

Hmm, so I am guessing the only people that can get anything out of the disc are people who have dev kits, or those that can extract files and view them on a PC. Still, if you do sell it, I hope it sheds some light on how bad Halo 2 was cut.

    Hey Pikkon,

Nice to see you around mate :icon_bigg

Yeah i do indeed have a debug kit / devkit, but i sadly can't get my hands on them for a good while, they are in storage and i won't be able to get to them for a good bit of time. I'm currently many miles away from them, and won't be able to get near them for quite some time. I'm on holiday in a weeks time aswell, which isn't making matters any easier for trying the disk out.

If i'm honest, i think the X3 modded box 'might' have loaded up to however far it gets if it wasn't for the DVD drive being so crap and useless. I struggle to make it even think about loading the disk now.

    Cheers everyone

    Hey guys,

Sorry to be bringing this back to the top, but as i awaited a reply from kev to consider an auction here, i heard from him once then i didn't hear from him again, but due to reasons he wasn't sure about an auction here.

I'd give eBay a try, but i don't want to go off getting my account suspended for trying to sell stuff i'm not supposed to, ive already had a warning for it, and i know of people who have been suspended for it, so i don't want to go down that road if possible.

Please could someone give me abit of insight if possible to the value of this thing?

As i'm getting desperate for some cash i think its something i'll have to let go of.

If the value seems good enough, i'll make a F/S thread here for people to have a go at.

    Cheers,
    Dan.

    Dano2k long time no see

You did the first internal watercooled 360 right?

    Anyway, as a price

I know a few people who would pay a arm + leg + penis for that. 800+ easily?

Check out deadperfect, he collects Halo

Yeah thats right, i was the guy who built the worlds first all internal watercooled 360 nice to see you remember me and the console :icon_bigg

Thanks for the price estimate, its nice to hear one.

I think deadperfect would be interested in the disk, if i remember rightly he also replied at the begining of this thread.

I assume by this you mean like a factory type produced disk and not a burned one? if so yeah its deffinatly all original as MS made it, sorry i'm a little bit of a noob to some of these meanings.

    Cheers guys

Last I checked, Ebay operate a three strikes system on this sort of grey area item, so unless you've been called up for somewhat-naughty stuff before you shouldn't have a problem. At the very least you'll get interest and possibly some offers from reputable ebayers if it does go down before the end of the auction. And honestly, Microsoft have got much better things to be doing with their time than coming down hard on people selling non-working beta discs for a game from a dead platform.

EDIT: yeah, pressed means a (typically) silver bottom, factory-produced disc.

    hey Dano2k0

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3npwZubnP2Y

i think this explains why theres no real use for this disc unleas some one is a master of the xbe! and knows how to bypas the"WHOA THERE" screens to play system link or split screen BTW the guy who uploaded this is named demonseed1 i asked him and he told me that the "I agree screen" you press "B" and it goes to the main menu but you can only choose "Options" or "Xbox-Live" all other functions are blocked in the xbe some where? is it possible for a bypass?

I'm sure it's possible to bypass it, problem is the data is not out where the people with the skills to hack it can get at it and most are not willing/able to shell out what people want for the disk. I've had a couple of theories running on doing such things but I am one of those who are unable to shell out the cash for such a disk to take a crack at it.

If i'm honest guys i haven't got the best of ideas, but that video clip is the furthest ive ever seen this thing go, those menus look great, now all we need is someone to make use of this stuff and make a updated version of Halo 2.

Now if some of the maps etc are different and possibly contain other cars etc then would it not be possible to replace the ones from this disk with the ones on the retail Halo 2? I assume if named correcrtly it would work?

When i bought the disk some time back, i was told to probably expect different things in this game to retail, i only bought it as a collectable, and have no clue what i could do with it other than keep it in my collection or boot it as far as it ever got on my box.

I'm 100% confident though in the right hands there are plenty of people out there who could make really good use of this disk, or even just keep it in a collection, afterall, its very rare and this is the only one i know of.

Like i said, its a great piece for all Halo 2 collectors, i myself now prefer to collect Halo 1 stuff, and i need the money pretty bad so this is really going to have to go, which i do find very sad as i tresure this rare stuff.

    Thanks guys.

If you need the money best bet put it on ebay and than post a thread in the ebay thread. I am looking forward to a chance to to bid on it.

Just an FYI Dano2k0, Bungie had thousands of these things made so it's rarity is only in that someone was actually willing to part with one of them. eBay would net a nice price but I'm realtively certain it would get taken down fast, Bungie is pretty protective of their works.
