http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gUMMFIBUBWA couldn't believe my eyes when i saw that! this guy is a damn tetris machine h:
The game he's playing is called Tetris The Grandmaster 3 - Terror Instinct, which is the latest arcade Tetris as far as I know. Its set on master and he played it untill he reached lvl 999, then there was a special bonus round with the credits running in the background. I never saw that actually, neither in a game center nor on the web.
a few years ago i d say i m impressed. However, after beating the crap out of Tetris DS, hitting level 999 and keeping it going myself, I say that it's not as hard as it first seems. Very nice playing nevertheless, although he lacks strategy at some points and doesn't make good use of the reserved tetronimo many times.
Its much harder than Tetris DS because you can move the tetrominos only for about 1s (later 0,5s i think) after they fell which makes it a lot faster .
Amazing, I have seen people playing a mode where blocks go invisible once you have placed them so it is one big memory test. I remember Arika used to have a bunch of high level vids on their hp.
Yes, but adapting to the speed takes the same amount of practice and experience, hence, it's not shere talent, just lots of practice, and would take one less than 2 weeks to master with enough coins in his/her pockets =)
Pretty neat, I remember a vid on youtube of a tetris championship with a guy playing like that too, crazy. Edit: Found it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J1mvhDVzr7g
Sweet video man thanks for sharing. I've never seen such skills like that on tetris but there was some moments when he made misakes.
WOW. I can't remember what level I usually lose at, I think its 60 or something. But its been years since I've played a Tetris game.
i was at hey arcade two days earlier but didn`t see any pro players there. still, i was a bit reluctant to play something myself.
The guy playing is called ZAB, although he's certainly quite good.. he's definitely not the best. If you take a look at the machine that's standing right next to the one ZAB is playing at you'll see names like " J ", "14 " and "KAN" competing about the top spots. J is also known as Jin8, he's definitely the best player since he's the only one right now to have qualified for the Gm (Grand Master) rank in TGM3:Ti at the moment (with both CLASSIC and WORLD rules, no less), something he achieved only earlier this month. You can see a video of Jin8 playing here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u5n7cD3VkEc Sadly, it's not a Gm video, but Mihara (the designer of the game) has hinted on his blog that they're working on recording a Gm video, so hopefully we should see one soon. Jin8 also maintains a ranking table on his homepage (click "CLASSIC" and then "MASTER" to see rankings for the mode that's shown in these videos), it's available here: http://www7a.biglobe.ne.jp/~tetris_holic/ranking_frame.htm There's also a couple of videos of 14 playing available here: http://youtube.com/profile_videos?user=bwv1079 Barc0de: Hitting level 999 in Tetris DS can't be compared to hitting it in Ti Master. You're better off not comparing the games since they're very different animals.
Hahahaha, this is quite ironic... I was just watching some speedruns earlier and wondered if there were any for Tetris... and before I searched I came here to see what was new and this was here! Very Impressive indeed.... I am amazed how fast they can react... Practice Practice!
Here's the video as promised: http://www.arikaonline.com/download/movie/tgm3_prom20070907.mpg This is the best Tetris player in the world, and it's a Grand Master video.
Does anyone here have the GameWave superplay DVD's? I've been looking for them and I've heard there are some really awesome play throughts of games on them. I know one guy on YouTube has been uploading pieces of them. but he's currently stopped putting new ones on.
Completely insane! I did not even know where to look. The most impressive part was that in the latter stages (starting from level 500) he stayed calm enough to undo his mistakes. I wonder what his strategy - or that of any advanced player - is? Concentrating on the hand movements and not looking at the playfield at all maybe? How else could he have cleared the "staff roll" stage where the field was not displayed? (he did make mistakes though)
