Here is the video link, enabling viewing the video in larger screen mode. The screen adjusts to your screen monitor, "F11" to full-screen if you prefer.

The presentation covers the system in a fair bit of detail and also provides a demonstration of the system working.

I hope you enjoy the video!

    Summary:

    * The most comprehensive retro video gaming console system made
    * 15 unique original gaming consoles, playing 18 formats in total
    * No emulation or clone hardware, all original boards
    * One power supply for all systems
    * One SCART cable for all systems for audio and visual
    * One Master Controller to work all the proprietary console systems
    * 3 years to make
    * Approximately 3,500 hours to build
    * Approximately 300 metres of cabling
    * Approximately 20 kg
    * Costed around £700 in parts, boards, controllers, wiring, etc

    Very unique system, congrats!

But with all these projects, do you even have time to play on that?

Amazing work... congratulations on a successful project :) . I just finished watching the video... and i got a quick question, did you take up a computer programming/engineering class of some sort or self taught?

    Self taught.

I hope to play the system a reasonable amount now, yes!

I didn't show all systems as it would have added probably another half an hour or so to the video, and I wanted a video under 20 mins long in total as i'll be showing it at the Revival event in May that i'll be a speaker at. I have shown all the systems working in previous videos though, so thought showing four systems was enough to prove it all working fine, especially as one of the systems shown was a disc based system (GameCube).

One annoying factor though, my GameCube memory card got wiped when I was working out getting the GBA working a while back, hence why the memory card only had a save game for the start of Bomberman Generation, still never mind, memory card works!

Forgot to ask, do you plan on making another master controller and a 2nd controller port down the road for multi-player?.

No, single player only. Having it two player would have meant a bank of 3 x 9 connections to a system and that would have been unreliable; and a LOT more work.

    Incredible work, just wow!

The look of it isn't to my taste but what it represents overshadows aesthetics completely. I'd have no problem with showing that off in my living room. :)

Do you plan on releasing a document detailing how its constructed eventually? Pardon my ignorance if you've answered that already. I'd love to know how connections were joined and spliced/selected in more detail (Looking for ideas for a future project on my audio system currently). Nothing major though, especially when compared to this.

EDIT: Scratch that last question. Just checked your youtube channel out and it looks to be on there already.

    quality, its pretty awesome.

out of personal preference i would have added some original controller ports so things like light guns etc could be used but that could be easily done via your universal connector anyway.

awesome work i assume its a heavy beast too lol,

My god dude! So good to see it finished!

It won't win any fashion contests but it's purely functional! This is amazing!

Very good! Fits nicely where you have it too.

Hopefully down the track it stays strong, as I think over time the slider will grind down since it's made of wood. However, great work, very complex and you pulled it off. :)

Light guns don't work on modern televisions to my knowledge.

Thanks for the comments guys, pleased you like it!

Yeah, the system looks good but isn't a work of art, but then having to make it into a box shape was never going to be. The front needed to be flat, the other sides were all going to be hidden anyway in the cabinet, and the space provided was small for the project, so it became a situation of using all the space available, ie a cube box.

Also thoroughly impressed - man, that's a lot of wires in there!

Just one thing I wasn't sure about - why use a slider to change from console to console - wouldn't it have been easier to use buttons? (I know nothing about these things so I'm there's a logical reason! - I'm just curious.

    Still impressed!

    :)

That's quite a feat you've accomplished there, well done! Would love to see some more detailed videos in the future of various systems, controller use etc.

camdman - thanks for that linky, didn't see it on their site earlier.

arnoldlayne - there aren't switches around that can do so many connections, unless paying a lot; I made my unit for probably about £10-£15 complete.

Banjo - I made several videos on the system as it progressed, in my YouTube videos.

Was thinking the same thing, just spring loaded buttons would have done the trick.

Either way it's an amazing accomplishment, can't say it's the prettiest looking thing but function over form I guess.

Love the cartridge system for the controller, very clever idea.

Also I would have monetized your YouTube video by now. The number of views you're getting you'd be recuperating some of the cost by now!
