On the one hand... Assembler has a very valid point. We should all be kind to newcomers regardless of how they present themselves or whether or not they read the rules.

On the other hand, I'm sure I'm not the only one frustrated by a growing influx of idiot noobs who view this form as just another GameFaqs/IGN, or a dumping ground for stuff they can't unload elsewhere. If the first thing a new member does is against the rules, it doesn't leave a very good impression, and since almost all infractions occur when someone appears and tries to sell something, it's usually pretty doubtful they're going to be contributing much to this community. For them to then follow up with namecalling and profanity - well, that's not a real positive attitude to bring to ASSEMbler, is it? Not to say at all that we should be rude to people like that, but maybe harsher punishments are in order to discourage idiots - something like a week-long temp ban with extreme prejudice or something.

 

Nowadays, i just hit the little report button. Do mods get it? I hope. But its better then attacking people outright at this point.
