Personally, I would love to get my hands on one and see how they put them on there (Refering to the recent Mew event at the Toys 'R Us's in the US where they used special cartriages to transfer them over).

I remember seeing it in a magazine that had pics of the machines they used at spaceworld for mew.

It looked like a small monitor housed in some custom case with a cart slot on it & there was a snes pad used to control the machine.

Well, they'd be pretty hard to find I expect, but they'd be an awsome find too...

I remember last year at the Tokyo Pokemon Center, the cartridge was just a regular sized GBA cart, and it had a very basic menu. It linked to the Pokemon games, obviously, via a link cable, and...That was it.

I want one. It was being used to give out the Hoenn starters. Next week they were doing Johto ^^

Is there any info about the machines used to transfer Mew or Cerebii to R/B/Y/G/S/C? Have any of these ever been leaked to collectors?

And just out of interest, are there any pokemon fans who have these on their carts?

I got my Celebi in a Nintendo event here in Madrid and the machine used to transfer it looked like Importaku says, a monitor with a cart slot in it (they had like 4 of this machines on a truck).

Is serebii the only r/b/y/g/s/c pokemon that is totally unobtainable now then?

No in japan you could get serebii by using the pokemon collosseum kakuchou disk. When you had met certain conditions you could use the disk to let you move it into your game

You could then connect to your gba pokemon game & download serebii in.

I now have a full set of legit promo pokemon from all the events that have taken place in japan (or nearly all that i know of) Theres quite a few same ones but they have different trainer names from the events they were from like Hadou Myu & Tanbata Jirachi

Hehe only downside is they are trapped on my gamecube memory card as i dont have ruby or sapphire yet to download them to so i can transfer them to the ds versions of diamond & pearl.

Cant wait to use them on battle revolution (^_^)

Serebii didnt exist in the gb versions. The first game you could get him yourself in was pokemon crystal.

You needed the mobile adapter which connected to your mobile phone so you could go online, when you went to the PCC in a certain town it activated an event & the woman behind the counter would give you the GS ball. When you gave this ball to the pokeball expert to examine he would return it to you the following day. You then went & put the ball in the shrine in the forest nearby & serebii would appear.

There was a couple of events run by coro coro comics where you could take your cart to to get serebii downloaded but you had to win one of the special tickets in a random prize draw to be eligable.

Sounds like a job for the GameShark. Personally I hate all these events people can't experience without extra hardware/something outside of the game itself. A bit of the game is basically lost without anyone knowing.

Yeah you can get them with gameshark very easily.

Theres quite a bit of content in all the pokemon games that is usually held for an event to unlock, its fun if you can attend & unlock it in its original way but not everyone is able to get to an event, so hurrah for gameshark it was a saviour when i had my old versions.

Yeah I meant the GBC ones :) So it's a GS or nothing basically? Are GBC gameshark/action replay type things easy to come by?

I'm surprised there aren't pictures floating around of the machines - Toys R Us had an event on 30th September.

Probably because the hacking / obscurity community doesn't care about Pokemon games, unfortunateley.

Anyway, does anyone know where I could get a MobileGB Adaptor? I'd love to get one. But I've never seen any anywhere.

There were some photos up somewhere I know I saw... but there wasn't a machine. It was a Pokemon game preloaded with tons of Mews, so the Toys R Us clerk had to trade each Mew individually which takes a bit of time. I'm sure if you look you can find those photos.

Same here. I was at a Pokemon event held at a mall sometime in 99', where I waited in a line to have Mew put into my catridge. I still have him, his original owner is named "Linke" apparently. Heh.

There is a new-ish glitch in Pokemon R/B/Y that allows you to capture Mew in game, without any sort of cheat devices such as GS or AR. He appears in your Pokedex, and plays just like a regular Pokemon that you'd catch anywhere (my point being he isn't glitched out, unlike the infamous MissingNo. (#) "Pokemon".

here is a link to some youtube search results for people interested in seeing the glitch in action

I visited a lot of Japanese and European events where the staff used a cartridge like the one you're talking about.

    It works like this:
    Staff's GBA = GBA1
    Customer's GBA = GBA2

    1. GBA1 is running a special program waiting for a Link Connection.
    2. GBA2 connects via Link Cable to GBA1.
    3. GBA2 is turned on while holding START+SELECT (for enabling multiboot).
    4. GBA2 receives data from GBA1. During this process a bunch of Pokéballs appear on GBA2's screen. GBA1's screen says "Transfering".
    5. GBA1 closes the connection after finishing the transfer.
    6. GBA2's screen shows the Pokémon you received after saving data to GBA cartridge.

That's about it. A video on that can be found here.
It's the same as the Mew one but has some kind of menu for selecting the Pokémon before the transfer starts.

If you ever get your hands on one, please let us know!

Looks like they use a similar generator to the GCN Pokemon Colosseum Bonus Disc. Anywho, if there is one thing I am really curious about, it is the older generation games. From what I heard, the older versions had a bunch of mews precaught on the cart. Thing is, how did they put them on there? Did they use some sort of development tool to modify the cart so it was full of mews of a certain level, Trainer number, and name? Man, i'd love to get my hands on one of the older ones.
