Just wondering if there's a decent, proper guide out there on how these boards are meant to be fitted? I'm not sure what board revision I have, I'll grab some pics in a minute. Thanks.

PM Zer0-2k11 he has updated his guide recently Edit: Or better yet, here's the link for you https://www.dropbox.com/sh/gg35a1ogspzknk6/AABBPZaQDN9ZIh4_iDG-95b5a?dl=0
Thanks, that's a fair amount better than what I was trying to follow, although I'd figured it out anyway Hopefully someone else can find it when they need it!
Well, no game I've burnt will boot... 3 of them just play as audio cds :/ Used Img Burn, and Alcohol 120%.
Make sure your ribbon cable is seated perfectly. Every connection needs to be hitting. I had a similar problem installing my mod chip. Once I reseated the ribbon cable it worked great.
Yup! Well I was yesterday, I assume I still can Both Australian and Japanese, as I installed a region free bios while I was there.
Double check the ribbon cables are in the right orientation (never hurts, its a common oversight, its happend to me once or twice ) , and the you got the correct jumpers if they're needed
I had an issue when I installed a Region Free Bios (H Saturn one) and the Saturn didn't read any games and it was chipped so likely it's the BIOS. I would check some originals for your region with out the chip installed to see if the problem is still there.
Yeah you do, If your jumper and cables are correct then it might be something to with the power. But before you mess around with that are you making sure the console is powered off before putting in your backup. I've been told that the phantom doesn't like booting backups if this isn't done beforehand (though I haven't had this problem before) If you are doing that try getting power from your CD drive instead, here's some pictures that show you where you can get 5v from it.
I've only just gotten around to trying this, and it would appear this was the issue, thanks! One game would give the message "Disc unsuitable for this system" while another would simply load as an audio CD, but when the system was powered up with the disc already loaded, they both boot fine. Does anyone know why this is the case?
When I was installing a much older chip a couple of years ago, I noticed that the lid just has to be shut when you switch the Saturn on. Hence testing a just installed chip always made it appear to not work as you tend to have the top half of the case off during testing. Once it had booted up, I could swap games etc without having to power off.
If you boot the console with the lid open, the chip is disabled. Just like on many PS1 modchips. So basically you are trying to boot a CDR on a console with a disabled chip. This should really be in bold at the top of the install guide.
Added. I thought i typed that in on the bottom of the installation guides but i didn't. I also added +5V locations for the underside of the CD drive's. Reason for this is in some cases, grabbing +5v directly from the PSU can cause the chip to not function correctly. I think there is some sort of noise on the +5v line there. It's also better to get +5 from the CD drive because if you ever need to fully disassemble the console, you don't need to desolder a wire, just disconnect the ribbon cable going from the motherboard to the chip and you are good to go. It also looks neater as opposed to having a wire go across the Saturn, especially for VA0 Model 1's with the PSU mounted to the top of the case .
