Prototype build of a game found on my XDK hardrive

Can anyone tell me what this is? me and my good mate XboxSurgeon here on this site are sure its a port of World of Warcraft prototype build that a team was making, however some reddit members are saying its a diablo 3 prototype build.. any ideas guys
i'm not sure how much i'm allowed to show here, might already be pushing it.

That is most DEFINITELY World of Warcraft, every aspect of the UI matches WoW. Diablo 3 has a completely different looking interface. So this must mean that they were gonna possibly port it to X360 at some point ?! Interesting find, Stipo!

 

Nice found ! I agree with you, it is a Wow prototype.

The map is alomost the same than the one on Wow (see picture http://kingdomgame.it/images/games/w/world-of-warcraft/speciale/wowsp3.jpg)
And the inventory looks also like to one one Wow (http://kingdomgame.it/images/games/w/world-of-warcraft/speciale/wowsp4.jpg)

But that's my own opinion.

Just had a thought, maybe it was a company working on their own MMO and they were just using WoW assets as a starting point? im genuinely intrigued about this proto.

Wow (no pun intended,) this is a pretty cool find. I'm definitely curious as well. Hopefully someone will have some solid info on exactly what it is. Thanks for sharing!

Well this is something I never expected, great find! I'm looking forward to more.

 

Very interesting ! Didn't expect too see anything like this.

 

Its a diablo 3 prototype, the graphics are FAR to different to be anywhere close to world of warcraft, they are closer to Diablo. The UI I assume doesn't even move / animate neither can you interact with it. They will literally just be placeholder images they have used for this crude and very early build.

The GUI looks like those in Warcraft, we all agree with that. As deep3r said, the 3D objects look more than diablo 3 objects. So, we may have several possibilities :

- The team who was developping Wow on Xbox where using some alpha object of Diablo ;
- The team who was developping Diablo where using Wow GUI for alpha test ;
- As Skavenger216 said, it may be something totally different ;

Where did you get this Dev kit ? It may be helpful to know that.

 

Well yeah, by reading it does seem like everyone is puzzled as to what game this could be. Have you tried looking into the game files for hints to the project name? Most games have their own internal codenames or just string written into the executable which could be a clear hint as to what this may be.

I highly doubt they would make a 360 version of wow as it is completely nonviable for them due to it being a big job which would not reaching their intended audience, or not enough, for facts like the graphics are about a generation behind. Also it is doing fine on PC, where it is best suited.

Also, it would not be done like your first suggestion, it would be more like the second. Just look at the character models, the bridge model, and the camera angle, this is all screaming Diablo 3. If they were to build anything to test WoW, it would not be like this.

EDIT: Also, its still a very sweet build you have there stipo, cant wait to see the video. I've seen a thread before on a similar game being found on a kit, with the UI etc but it didn't boot or something, I'll get on finding it now

You're right, Wow on xbox 360 may not be viable.

 

What is that supposed to mean?

I posted it for reference, and I also saw you spoke to him about it, could you enlighten us on what happened, did he explain to you any further on the build he had?

 

Deeper, i dont see anything resembling Diablo at all, each and EVERY one of the UI elements are straight from WoW. Also.... this image here that was in Stipo's OP, http://i.imgur.com/YWw4dFh.jpg . That is VERY clearly an Orc and a Tauren, both of which exist in WoW, but not Diablo. Also, look at the mini-map portion of the UI, it says Lake Al'Ameth, which is a location in WoW, not Diablo.

I have little doubt that this is either A: a proto of a possible WoW port, or B: a proto of a possible console WoW spin-off. I am saying this as someone who played WoW for over 8 years and logged over 1500 hours on Diablo 3.
