I found this PS3 controller at my local swap meet. I believe it's a prototype controller. I have seen a couple on other sites before with a long sticker on the back. Anyways, just wondering if anybody here could be me some more information about it. Is is worth much? I think collecting dev stuff is pretty fun.
Yeah the data limit is very small, hence posting collections is impossible, put it on imjur and post a link to it.
Do I have to sign up or can I just post it? https://imgur.com/WpQrViP,LUJVuWa#1 https://imgur.com/WpQrViP,LUJVuWa#0
Perhaps Borman would know more but it is an odd one with the 2 mini usb connectors, too bad someone peeled off the sticker.
Looks just like this one but has the sticker removed. http://www.assemblergames.com/forum...Another-prototype-of-PlayStation-3-controller
I own 2 of these controllers. I think it is one of the very preliminary controller prototypes made for pre-DECR-1000A dev box to test the six axis feature. It contains a very large metal box inside which I think is the accelerometer under development. There are 2 USB connectors, one for PS3 connection and the other is for PC-firmware update. There is no battery inside it so it must be USB connected to the DEV target box. It cannot function on retail PS3 (> 2.X firmware) like the other prototype six axis controller (never have the time to test it in 0.9X - 2.5 old firmware). The stick removed says: This controller is not yet FCC approved and is for testing only. I have tested it on PC using six-axis driver but the button signal is so messed up so it is not possible to operate either (some buttons are always in pressed state, some buttons are bouncing). This controller is quite rare as I do not believe Sony will make at lot of this "homebrew like" controller.
I know Id like one of these, not the most expensive controller ever but still cool. Its been a while since i looked into these, but I believe that there was a firmware update that was available at some point for this controller. If Im not remembering incorrectly, which again, I could be, the second port could be used for updating that, as the controller was essentially the first to be sent out with PS3 dev kits.
Thanks for the info! I used to own another PS3 controller for reference tool. I found that at the swap meet as well but I sold it a while ago.
You shoot me a PM hah Im not willing to pay a whole terribly lot for it though, it isn't quite as rare as the other prototype controllers out there, especially lacking the stickers
inside should be like this http://www.assemblergames.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=11121&d=1405690618
Thanks everybody How much is a PS3 slim debug system with the test logo on the front and back of the case?
