hi everyone, new user here. been reading the site for a while but i signed up to ask if anyone knows much about this pre production (as in exactly the same as a fat Playstation 3 debug) prototype (as in not fcc certified and has "prototype" printed on the back info panel) Playstation 3 debug station? I've not seen one before and wondered if its considered collectable?
cool thats pretty interesting stuff, hopefully someone will know more about this and what it can do. Does it work?
its still a colectors item, dont know about how much its worth depends on wether it works and a few other things
That doesnt mean its not collectible. If you owned the last existing copy of crash bandicoot (obviously impossible, but just an example) it would still be an extremely rare and expensive disc even if it looked like a 5 year old played it. Dont know much about this ps3 but assuming it has debug capabilities, its worth something. I like the transparent casing too, is that caused by the cameras flash? or is it still transparent under normal lighting?
There have been a few of them for sale in the past. They don't go for much more than what the going price was for a normal debug kit really (at the time anyway). But they are still nice
ha ha, its not that bad. the terrible photos make it look worse than it is. its a fully working debug and the case is transparent under normal light, the text is a little raised too. i shouldn't imagine its possible to find one of these in perfect condition as most debugs are worked pretty hard. anyway i thought it was an interesting find
This is just like any early hardware debug release from Sony and others I imagine. All the Vitas I have seen have Prototype on them.
i think if you cleaned up the console (wiped it down real good) it would look alot better the lighting makes it look worse than i believe it is, i would hold onto it if i were you
Looks like an early PS3 test kit 2006 - 2007 model I seem to remember carried prototype label. All prototype units should have been returned back to SCE in 2007 to receive final versions, there wasn't much different between them and the final version. I should also point out that right now that the only way to get one of these units legally is to be a paid up licensed developer of Sony Computer Entertainment. Also all PS3 test units remain the property of Sony Computer Entertainment at all times. There are only two ways that unit would leave a development studio, one is that studio went bust and SCE failed or were unable to collect the unit. Two which I suspect is the more likely case is that the unit was stolen from either a licensed developer or publisher at some point in it's life. That's all I'm going to say as I deeply dislike the theft of items from hard working developers and publishers.
Youre on the wrong forum then. Many people, myself included, own development kits that havent been licensed. Companys come and go, as do the kits themselves.
