That's an interesting mold, not quite like the final 360 controller, but much closer than the original Xbox one.

Also why did they possibly think the placement of those back and start buttons was any good?

What information is on the bottom of the controller?

First time I've ever seen a 360 prototype controller that looks like this. I think you've found something genuinely new.

Congrats on the find, I would assume it's among the earliest design for the Krypton's we've seen publically perhaps even its own unspecified engineering sample.

I also second the motion to get pictures of the back / any additional stickers.

This, as it can also be some weird third party controller.

Those labels look very similar to other Xbox dev equipment. I think this is the first of this mold that's been seen.

I'd also like to see more pictures of the controller if you wouldn't mind. Quite a lucky find, the seller probably didn't know what he had if he priced it low enough.

When I first bought it, I did think that was an Xbox One controller

Without a doubt 100% an Xbox One Proto :) great find! i don't even mind the start/select buttons, maybe they thought devs were gonna integrate those buttons into games WAY more often then to simply pause the game, so they thought this way it could be pressed faster? no idea.... lol

Those are actually good places for them. You don't have to stretch your thumb to push them, just lower them.
