Prototype XBOX Motherboard + HD Combo (56K alert)

This has just been sitting in my closet in a box for a few months now. I wasn't planning on selling it but I've been looking around for a new PC and I must sell off a few things for the cash.

This is a prototype motherboard that has an arcade connector behind the fan as well as an MCP X-MODE 2 southbridge instead of the usual MCPX3 found on retail motherboards. There are other differences that you can see and others that you cannot (like CPU and GPU clock speeds). Problem is that I wasn't able to get it to function. I sometimes got no video output at all and got a grey screen other times. It's basically sold as-is but a nice collector's item nonetheless.

It also comes with its matching HD. I was told that it has a different partition table as retail HDs.

^^^Full shot from behind. The arcade connector is the one in the red box. It has 30 or 32 pins IIRC^^^
    [IMG]
^^^The backup battery for the clock. Retail models use a capacitor instead^^^

^^^Upper-left corner. Board layout is different from retail. Doesn't have ICS chip.^^^

^^^The one above and below show wires that were most likely soldered by hand. Most likely last-minute changes done to the layout.VVV

These pics are all at 640x480 to reduce size. If you want to see all of these at 1600x1200 (original resolution), PM me with your email so I can send you the ZIP containing them. It's a hefty 3.5MB.

I'm prepared to sell at USD$200 but make any reasonable offer and I might think about it ;)

BTW, maybe oldengineer can shed a little extra light on this thing. What are the similarities/differences with this motherboard and a DVT3 motherboard?

    A pic would be nice.

  3. ...Does it have a battery on the motherboard? Do the controller wires plug straight into the mobo rather than go via a daughterboard? ...i.e is it the one that was on an xboxscene thread, which then got sold on ebay a couple of months ago?

What do you mean by an "arcade connector"?

Then i will delete the post. All for sale items must includ a price. Feel free to ask for offers above that price but you must set a price at which you will sell at.

  6. ...I revealed all about the arcade connector, on here, many months ago, it stems from the Xbox tie in with SEGA Chihiro HW in the early days.

Pics posted and selling price added. As stated, I have higher resolution pics but I can only send those via email. If anyone has a specific request for a pic, let me know.

EDIT: If you cannot see the pics, it's because I've passed my bandwidth limit for the hour. You'll have to wait a bit until you can see them again. If someone can provide hosting for these images for the duration of the sale, I'd appreciate it.

Just use imageshack for the images, so long as they are under 1mb.

    The pics or mobo? :)
If you want the high res pics, PM me your email.

BTW, how similar is this motherboard to the DVT3? From what i've seen, it looks more like a DVT3 than any other version of the xbox hardware.

  12. ...It's very similar to the DVT3 except your mobo is missing the extra RAM that the DVT3 has.

    P.S: P.M sent.

If there aren't any offers within next week, I might be posting this on X-S or ebay.

    No...

I'm selling it at about the same price I paid for it so I'm not making a profit on it. I wouldn't mind going a bit lower as long as the offer makes sense.

You would be better off to ebay it.And sell it as is.I really dont think your gonna
get that price for it on here.As the motherboard doesn't even work.

Pikkon is correct. It's a neat piece of kit from a curiosity standpoint, but it's not really worth the asking price in its current state. Were it working, you'd probably have more interest, but as it is PA's offer is more than fair.
