I'm more interested in the hard drive than a dead mobo. It's trivial to crack the hard drive lock and dump the info off. I'd like to look at the mobo in person, it looks as if it wouldn't be too hard to hook up a mod chip flashed with a debug bios. The battery concerns me, where do the traces for the battery hook up to? The fact that it's not a complete setup also bothers me. I'm sure at one point the thing had a case, so that's been lost, the fan is missing, there's no dvd drive, ide cables, power cables, power supply, etc... It doesn't look as if it's been treated very well. It's one of my pet pieves when people leave static sensitive equipment sitting on the outside of a static bag. If it worked, or was at least a complete setup i'd bite at $200. As it stands, i couldn't pay more than $75 shipped. Final offer.

As I said, I'm not sure if it works or not. I don't know enough about it to do extensive testing on it like I could do with a retail motherboard. Maybe it needs extra hardware in the arcade port for instance. It is sold AS-IS...not as defective and not as working since I can't say for sure in what state it is. From a physical standpoint, there doesn't seem to be any damage.

I won't go any lower than $150, I will keep it otherwise.

Actually, if this was originally used for arcade development (damn if I wouldn't buy it in a second if it was a Ghost Squad board), then it probably never had a case to it. 90% of the commercially released arcade boards are bare PCB's. Even though the Chihiro hardware is cased, prototype development probably did without to make it easier to "tinker" with.

I decided to put it again in a case and try to boot it. I wasn't able to get anything on screen but the fan spins and the eject button for the DVD works to power the unit on and to open/close the tray which means that the system management chip (DVD, fan, temp, ...maybe others) should work. I'll try other things.

Actually if you want a specific game, like Ghost Squad, you should be looking for the GD-ROM. Chihiro software isn't tied to a specific board.

You'll get that even on an Xbox with a completely fubar'ed BIOS. Hate to say it, but everything you've described about the board screams "non-working." If that's the way you bought it, then you got screwed on the initial asking price. :(

I noticed a little oddity. I'm not sure if it means anything but when I plug it to a regular 1.0/1.1 PSU, the status LED doesn't glow as bright as a retail bios would which leads me to ask if the PSU might not even be compatible with it. I doubt this but I'm trying to look at every aspect. It just puzzles me.

Back on track, this is still a sale thread. One of my last posts in this thread too. It's going to ebay soon.

The voltage comming out of the PSU would be the same regardless of the reigon. The xbox runs off of pretty standard PC power rails.

I highly doubt that it would need anything beyond the standard 12, 5, 3.3, etc. As long as you have the right power comming into the power supply, you should be cool.
