Every few years I come back to the Playstation, this time around I'm playing through the Tekken series, the only problem is the original controllers cable is way to short, my solution was to swap the cable for some cat5e/utp, this is my crude attempt without soldering.

I found the white cat5e too stiff so I've ordered some dark grey utp to do a better job with solder and hot glue sometime this week.

Seems like a lot of work for something you can buy on Amazon or with a crimper and coupler.

I did look for extensions on Amazon but I don't want loads of bulky female/male extenders they just look daft, with the new cable they will look almost original with long cables. As for time, it was a 10 minute job on each.

Any recommendations for thinner and lighter cables?
I'd like to mod my original PSX pads with a lighter cable that doesn't get in the way as much.

Get one of these and cut off either end and solder the wires to the controller and socket. The PSX controller is has 8 wires in it so this is a good replacement.

Cat5 should be good too. They're still a bit expensive over here though.
I'd be looking at 10EUR for 10m plain flat cat5.

I noticed a few DualShock 2 have nice cables though. Might repurpose those! :)
