Thanks for that, I'll try it.
P.S. I think it's old v1 or v2 Mayumi chip, I mean, it should work different than v4, am I right? I mean, "holding reset to enable modchip mode" and I almost sure it is not stealth chip (inject one time at startup or a thousand times while PS works). It is like MM3. Maybe I am wrong, never tried that. Thanks.

Back in 2001 one of the first modchips made for the PS2 used the code made for the 750x PSX consoles without any modifications to it. For ease of installation they only required one single cable to be soldered/jumpered on the board. The rest of the comunication took place from the usb port. It was an almost "plug 'n play" external modchip for the PS2 but it in fact used the old PSX 750x modchip code.

Those diagrams are for V1.1, I just noticed that sorry. For those old versions it's best to use the 4 wire classic chip and patch the games. After all not that many "significant" games needed patching. If I recall correctly it was Spyro3, Dyno Crisis, Coolboarders 2001 and a few others.

That is so interestin thing, never like to modchip FAT's, the Network Adapter did it's job, but only with PS2 backups. Damn, I'll try it, it's too good to be true.
Ohh, already ported? I'll try it tomorrow. (10000, 30004, 50008). All FAT's support it or all PS2?
P.S. I found the PIC-Disasm v1.6, but somehow it can't open any scource code, I can only use HEX mode. Is it ok, is that the way it works? And what about Maumi v4 to be ported on on PU 7 and PU-8? Is there any chance?

It works like a charm (been testing it for 2 days now) Thanks Mord.Fustang for taking time to look into this. Direct boot of psx games and was able to install FreeMcBoot on the memory card using the setup CD. It's like having a MODBO chip installed with only one wire soldered inside.
This chip supports up to V5 (that is how old it is). I will be taking a risk and try to install it on a V8 (still has an intact warranty seal so let us pray LOL) given the fact that I'm assuming that the only thing needed to work is the proper identification of the solder point to inject "SCEA" and removal of the proper resistor on the usb end. Looking at the MODBO installation the "SX" point seems to be the one since it matches with pin #2 of the old Neo diagrams.

Here's some Eye candy (taken with the cel phone came out sideways) the chip work was just a quick rig to see if it works and it certainly does IMG_3060.JPG IMG_3065.JPG IMG_3070.JPG :

This is the jumper I'll be doing on the V8, if this works I'll be happy... LOL.

ahh i beleve it wont hurt if we try it on newer ps2 consoles like 5000x or slimlines the chip only put the scex signal i dont think this will damage anything. im not sure if this plays also on newer consoles.

Remember to remove the resistor atthe usb port (although some people say it does not need to be removed). Gonna try my V8 without removing it first. I'm kind of busy at work so it might be a couple of days before I try. I'm pretty sure it will work. But don't blame me if it breaks!!!!

I wonder if the MODBO people named it "SX" for the sole issue of that being the point to inject "SCEX" code... Seems logical...

i want only to say thank you. i will make it internal i will power the pick from the usb points i will put the capacitor + to pin 6 and the - directly to scex point so i wont need to remove the small capacitor from mobo. i will put also a switch to +. i read before time if the scex is signal all the time it stress laser. also antimod games wont work if chip is on after sometime

Spyro 3 I believe checks for scex at two different points so I just used the patched version LOL. I do remove the usb once game loads since there is no switch on my rig. Gonna take it a step further and order SOIC 12f's with smd led, resistor and cap to make it as tiny as possible and place it all in one of those wifi usb card enclosures that are about the size of a thumbnail. That is just for fun whenever I get the time on boring sunday LOL. Or might install it internally and hide the switch outside, the led and switch can be place on the vent holes in the front.

Please let me know if it worked. If it does then this cheap mod would at least give the feature of direct booting PSX games to the versions on which fmcb cannot be installed. Hope BIOS did not change too much for CD-r's...
