Can you guys tell me what this is worth? As you can see from the photos, the condition is like new. I have only used it briefly to confirm that it is working. I assume there is a difference in value between Made In Japan and Made In China/Malaysia/Indonesia controllers even in the 1010 range..?

All the SCPH-1010s I've ever seen were made in Japan - they were the controllers that the original Japanese launch consoles were shipped with. When Sony released the console in the US and PAL markets, they redesigned the controller (slightly longer handles, longer cable and a RFI supression core on the end of the cable nearest the console) - this was the SCPH-1080, which then became the standard controller for all markets including the Japanese one.

First match for "SCPH-1010" on Ebay says "Made In Malaysia".

    Not selling.

Strange - all the ones I ever saw in HK were Japanese - possibly because most of the Japanese consoles that ended up in HK were imported very early in the PlayStation production run.

Having said that, I just checked my bag of old controllers, and found 3 SCPH-1010s. Two of them were "Made in Japan" and the last was "Made in Malaysia" - the "Made in Malaysia" one seems to be a knockoff, but presumably it was copied from a real controller at some point.

I have SCPH-1000 (PU-7) in a box, with all accessories. The joystick (SCPH-1010) is written "Made in Malaysia" ...
