    Congrats SP193, you rock !
Finally a real legit alternative to commercial products and GEC ELFs.

As for tests and reports, I'm affraid I can't help more. I'm running out of DVD-R and all my Slims have broken CDVD drives:moody:.

Cheers and thanks for your time deving.

USA : 3.02 (in the HDD Utility Disc 1.10)
Japan : 3.04 (in the PSBBN 0.32 and in the DVD Player 3.04 update disc)
Europe : 2.14 (in the DVD Player 2.14 update disc)

I've never seen an update disc newer than 2.14 in Europe, but it seems legit, as the latest US update disc seems to be 2.14 too (PBPX-95223) and the HDD Utility Disc hasn't been released in Europe.
    Japanese had 1.00, 1.01, 2.01, 2.10, 2.12, 2.14, 2.16, 3.00 and 3.04 as dedicated DVD Player update discs:topsy_turvy:.

japan had all the cool stuff :moody:
and thank you for confirming the finial installable version of the dvd players for all regions

on a side note i found your youtube page and your multi disk
just to double check is that disk able to be launched with ESR or OPL?

i wonder if there is a change log somewhere for all the changes sony made to the dvd player besides disabling RGB video out in 1.01 and adding progressive video in late fats and the slim lines

It'd be nice to know what versions are safe to install on which PS2. I wouldn't want to screw up something by toying around with non-US update discs.

Thank you guys. But really, the both of you have been of really great help. :)

If l_Oliveira doesn't find any major problems with running the tool on his *collection* of Playstation 2 consoles, I suppose that we are ready to create the final bundle for distribution?

Nothing will happen. At most, the DVD player will just not boot successfully. The Playstation 2 console is not like the PSP, where the firmware is actually erasable.

I'm pretty sure it cannot be launched with ESR and OPL, due to the IOP reset(s) performed by installers and some other tech reasons. The tests you saw in the vid were made on an softmoded unit, using a Swap Magic ELF and a retail game to launch the backup.

DVD Player update discs (unaltered or cracked) will simply refuse to install files if they don't match the console MagicGate region :

    Ahoy!

I made some tests and must thank krHACKen for his hard work.

My V7 has the dvdplayer 2.13E. I installed the dvdplayer update 2.10E on the mc and embedded the 3.02E.
Works like a charm! With and without dms4 pro switched on.
    :D

You won't be able to launch 2.10E on your console no matter what you do. (It will run the internal 2.13E)

The console will aways use the one with highest version it finds... hehe

I am talking with KrHACKen about a solution for that ...

As written before it "works like a charm"! The console starts the dvdplayer update from the mc.
A simple edit of the dvdplayer.id solves this "not really" prob...

3.02E should work. 2.10E will NEVER work on your V7. That's what I am saying :p

Ahh, you had a comedian at breakfast, right?
    :biggrin-new:

I installed the lower update to get a clear look at the file structure and to get the needed files on the mc. Plus the mc-id.
I finally ended with a dvdplayer.(k)elf and the 3 id files inside the update folder.

Actually, why won't it boot v2.10 if the DVD Player ID file was updated accordingly? :S

Unless the DVD player itself has a check that terminates it's own bootup when it finds a newer DVD player in the EROM, it will start up.

AFAIK it's the OSD that determines where and which DVD player to start. It's also why you can't boot the DVD player on a slimline using the HDDOSD (Since it's not aware of the new DVD player storage structure of those consoles).

I'm willing to bet that it's possible to modify the v3.11 DVD player to run on a 10K... as a DVD player update ;)

But whether it's worth going through the trouble to make it work is a different matter.

Getting progressive scanning working too may be interesting too.
