During the time that I was waiting for that post to get approved by a mod, I PMed DaSa directly about the question, and this is what he said,
...Perhaps krHACKen himself could comment on this? That should hopefully put the final nail on the coffin.

    Look here : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SGBjXIC4mMg&feature=youtu.be&t=2m13s
Thta's a test from krHACKen on a 320GB HDD, with a game placed at the end of the HDD.
Max HDD size in unknown, but you can use pops with 320 GB HDD safely (pops doesnt use
Sony ATA driver, kHn replaced it).
I wont copy/paste kHn PM, I doubt anyone will understand french.

The download looks to be newer then that video but I see no info saying that in the README. Last time I looked, POPStarter will only work on 28bit formatted HDD it will not load on any 48bit HDD or HDDOSD... so that's only 137gigs at max. Maybe your linking the wrong download or maybe kHn has not uploaded it, not sure.. can you PM me the kHn's PM so I can read it?

Nope. A PM is a PM - but that's something you doesnt understand, remember?

Guys, believe me or not, I dont care. Just keep in mind my guide had been
approved by kHn himself - as mentionned in the pops readme.
Why would I spead bullshit, especially in the official thread?

Btw, compatibility list has now more that 400 games tested, mostly because
of ElPatas & Algol tests. Big thanks to them.

Wow, I give out info on how to use POPS-00001 before POPStarter was made. It was not like he needed to PM the info to me, that was his doing and why not post it on the forum. It was only info on how use it. It was not like I was giving out the beta var. FMCB 1.9 before it was release, I got to be a tester for the Beta/pre-release. (believe it or not)

Anyway, you said that your not posting it as it was only in french... that why I was looking to know it you can PM it to me... but it looks like I'm just the bad guy.
I'm not saying you are or anything.. its just I'm not seeing any info saying that, I looked at the README and it does not say anything on 48bit or working on an HDD over 137gigs... or your mentioned.
I do not know if it does work or not and I don't care as 28bit is all I need, however if that info is true I'll like to let others know. I do know that the video you posted was using POPStarter Rev.11, so if it does work then I'm sure its in Rev.12
That's great to know, I tested some myself but not as much.. just don't have the time. (or maybe I'm just playing the games too much? lol)

Why doesn't anyone just try it? It'll either work properly or not.

If it's unable to access anything beyond 137GB, I don't see why it'll successfully boot games if it's stored that far up a large disk.

    @sp193, I'll love to test it for myself but sadly I don't have any HDDs over 120gigs. All I got is 4x $ony 40gb, 1x 60gb, and 1x 120gb.
I'm almost sure that kHn blocked the only working 48bit HDDOSD img he uploaded (The 48bit Experimental and the 48bit img I uploaded, for being safe as going over can f-up a disk's data)

Okay guys, I decided to take the risk and test it myself and it appears to work.
I tested "The Adventure of Little Ralph" on my 200GB HDD that's been filled to the brim with PS2 games; so it is in fact starting beyond the 136GB LBA point.

Also, none of my data seems to be corrupt. I tested some of my PS2 games that I first installed and they all seem to run as normal (I'm guessing data that exists at the start of the HDD would be most prone to getting corrupt?)

Anyways, thanks DaSa for giving out this info and thanks krHACKen for cleaning out this forgotten PS2 experiment ;)

    Essentially, yes.
It's the PSX emulator that Sony made for the Bishi Bashi Special 3 demo.

    Okay, wait one second...
I'm running into an issue were uLaunchELF fails to create a new partition any larger then 128mg, even though I have 11GB left on my drive. Does anyone know why this is happening?

NOTE: This wasn't an issue for Little Ralph, since that game was about 90mg.

    Scuse for my french ...

Regards.

Perhaps you've got 11GB of heavily fragmented space?

That might be the case, but is there even a tool for the PS2 to defragment the internal HDD? Last I checked there was no such tool.

It can not defrag but will show the fragmentation for you

Thanks for testing it out, I just got me a new IDE 320gb HDD to test it myself.. but that's done, I'm happy to know that is does work.
Its funny that kHn never posted the info on his readme... I think that's needed to know info?
I'm almost sure that the HDD Utility Disc 1.00 & 1.10 does have a defragment tool? If your HDD is not a Sony one you'll need kHn's Var. or maybe just patch it by kHn's ATADpatcher.
P.S. kHn's Utility Disc 1.10 Patched by itself (Sorry the name on the site is a little off)

I have a question. I have POPStarter working on my 250GB drive with three games. I'm attempting to dedicate an 80GB drive to PS1 games, but no matter what I do the container halts with error -108. Now, this drive did previously have the controversial HDDOSD image on it, but I was sure I removed all trace of that before I copied over a bunch of games (can't remember if I did a partial or full erase). This drive no longer has an trace of the HDDOSD at all, I'm running FHDB in ROM OSD mode. I get the same results whether I launch from uLE or OPL. If this is indeed due to a leftover trace of that HDDOSD image, how would I go about rectifying this problem? I'm not afraid of loading the drive into a hexeditor if I have to go that far, and will respect privacy if it's needed to PM the details in order to protect the container's security. I have EXECUTE.ELF and disc0 in __common/POPS, and all game partitions were created with pfsshell as power-of-two sizes if that matters. I'm currently running SP193's HDDChecker to make sure there aren't any bad sectors, so far it's 69% done with 0 errors. I'm at a loss here, been trying for a few days to get this to work. I'd rather not have to reformat my drive if I can help it, pfsshell isn't the most user friendly tool but it's certainly the fastest.

Remember that the current version of HDDChecker cannot check regions beyond the 137GB barrier, due to a design fault that got overlooked.

Somebody else has to comment on the error 108 though, since I have no idea what that means.
