    Hi,

I've been looking at this now for a while and became more curious with every revision that got released.
Seeing that there are several patches for CD and USB booting, I wondered if anyone ever tried it on a PS3 with BC capability (CECHA, B, C and E) ?

I wrote krHACKen a few weeks ago about this but he sadly never answered, so I'm trying it here.
Now what exactly does POPStarter need to run on a PS2 ? On a PS3 with BC capability, all we have is USB access (with the latest OFW).
There is no access to the HDD and/or burned media on the disc drive, but we can launch PS2 homebrew via USB thanks to swapmagic.

What could I try as a start, to see if the emulator gives me some kind of response on a PS3 ?

    Regards,
    iCEQB

    Bonjour.

    Bonne continuation.

krHACKen will not answer because it is very only occupied for “POPStarter WIP01”, the PS3 is not its current concern.

CFW is not an option for everyone bro ;)
And I'm not saying that krHACKen should add SP3 support, the question was just what will be needed for POPStartet to work correctly ... if HDD access is needed at all costs, this won't work and is OK with me.

Short answer, sorry Gentlemen, I'm very busy atm.
POPStarter and POPS-00001 shouldn't work in the PS3, because of the SBV patches they use for resetting the IOP and loading the modules. As far as I know, the PS3 doesn't like 'em.
The PS3 I have is not BC and it's not hacked so I can't test, but if you enable the POPStarter debug texts and launch its ELF in the PS3, I'm affraid you'll see nothing but a black screen of death :( .
SLBB-00001 *may* work... ...if you decrypt the Dnas_Hdd loader, inject the bound HW IDs in it, remove the pureinit garbage and craft a subroutine which patches the disc0 integrity check. A lotta hassle for something useless as crap; and it will require the internal HDD.

    Edit :
Yep. I keep trying to poke the magic word in cop0cr03_bpc under POPS. Meeeeh, I feel really dumb, whatever I do it does not work :( .

    Bonsoir khHACKen.

Travaille bien mon ami mais repose toi un peu aussi !!! Je valide tous ceux qui me le demandent à la liste (plus de 30 déjà).

Le site de "psx-scene" est devenu inaccessible depuis plusieurs jours. Tu sais pourquoi ???

    Bon WE.

Work my friend well but puts back you a little too!!! I validate all those which require it of me with the list (more than 30 already).

The site of “psx-scene” has become inaccessible for several days. Do you know why ???

    Best regards.

The Sony patch works on the PlayStation 3, so I copied its design and updated the PS2SDK with it. If you updated your SDK, it should be compatible with the PlayStation 3.

To be specific, that undocumented IOP RAM window at 0xBC000000 doesn't seem to be emulated properly by the EE emulator. Sony probably never intended anyone to use it, so it isn't surprising if it doesn't get emulated properly.

However, the USBD module still causes problems with the PS3's IOP emulator. And I still haven't figured out what the offending line of code is...

    "Buona fortuna" ...

Large a thank you with you two. My hacked PS3 is perfect to make function very many games PS1 and PS2 via “mmCMâ€.

I of lime pits not (and especially not my wife). I make use only very little of it because it is a birthday present for my wife.

Me, I have much time to pass behind my PS2 with the “WIP01†of “POPStarterâ€. It is my choice to help “krHACKen†but as soon as I am a little freer I could also become a “betatestor†for whom will want (you SP193 or AKuHAK, etc…). I have time of them because I have been with the retirement for a few months…

    Kind regards.

"Delcro, TO MEEE!" hope Sony haven't kidnapped him due to the PS1 emulator for PS4. Sorry, just a little humor for the waiting.

I couldn't get in either, but I thikns they are updating the site. Read this sometime ago on the homebrew channel, asking for collaboration and so. We'll see, make your bets!

Delcro hasn't been active on this site for 2 weeks. What if he never comes back? No USB support??? EVER??? I'm stuck with POPS-00001 right now.

Btw, thank you krHACKen for this awesome release of rev 13 (even though I can't try it right now), the compatibility is greatly improved. Thanks for your hard work!

Just tested Pop 'n Music 6. Game starts up fine but unfortunately gets stuck on a black screen after the Konami and Bemani logo. No patches used and no external bios used either.

Game Identification Data Extractor (IdentRip) v1.01

Hey there. Before I go to bed, here's version 1.01 of IdentRip :
    Download Mirror 1
    Download Mirror 2

It creates the disc identification files as well as the version 1.00, and it does something new.... this :

Super experimental LOL. When you drag/drop a pSX 1.13, a Xebra, an ePSXe 1.80 or a PCSX-R saved state to the IdentRip EXE, IdentRip attempts to vomit a LibCrypt crack.
Of course, it works only if the game you emulate under pSX/Xebra/ePSXe/PCSX-R passes the LibCrypt protection (with a valid crack/SBI/SUB).
The resulting TROJAN file has to be copied in the VMC directory of your game (I'm talking about POPStarter 13 here).

Hope it work... good luck using this, Gontlomon.

    Hello krHACKen.

Thank you kHn, you have of you to tear off the hair to lay us this trick in if LITTLE TIME. I from there will test myself it on games which do not pass. If you could to us poster a Documentation FR on Méta, you would have more “servants” to help you.

    A bientôt.

    Algol.

Thank you krHAKen, and how it works with games with more than one disc?
for example the Final Fantasy VIII,
it makes the four LC patches for the four discs or not?

It is possible that a trojan file working for one pal version of a game works
also for a different pal version of the same game, which don't have a scene
    patch or sbi file?

    Regards.

EDIT: I tried with the game Technomage with a ePSXe save state uncompressed, but
when i drop it in the identRip tool not works just gives me this error:

    "Unknown, so it's not supported"

Game Identification Data Extractor (IdentRip) v1.02

Sorry for the late reply and thank you very much for the bug report.

Yep, I had a look at the ePSXe section of the IdentRip source and found a stupid coding mistake. It should work now.

    Download Mirror 1
    Download Mirror 2

According to Redump, the four FF8 discs (of the same localization; UK version for example) have the same LC sector contents.
I made TROJANs for every PAL versions using IdentRip, conclusions are :
    - Localizations (UK, FR, DE...) have different LC sector contents, so they have different magic words.
    - The 4 CDs of a localization have the same LC sector contents and the same magic key, as said above.
    - The location of the LC routine (RAM addresses to patch) is the same in the 4 CDs of a localization. The main EXE is probably the same on the 4 discs, I didn't verify.

So we can just make a TROJAN from one Final Fantasy VIII disc, and copy that TROJAN in the VMC directories of the four CDs, since the magic word and the LC routine location are the same in the 4 CDs.

I didn't encounter such a case so far. All different PAL versions of a game should have a different magic word and require a different crack.

I continue making as many LC cracks as I can, by using the longest and most annoying method :
    UnpakkISO -> Redump SBI download -> SBI2SUB conversion -> pSX v1.13 quicksave -> IdentRip

    Hello,

I am new to this POPS stuff. I would like to know more about it. Is it a way to run PS1 Games from PS2 HDD? Currently I have FAT PS2.

Could someone please explain how this POPS works and what it does. And What are the files I need to get it running?

    Thank You.
