I don't get it. I have tried every patch, I have tried disabling default patches (of which this game should not have anyway), I have tried both versions 1.0 and 1.1, I have tried from HDD and USB, I have tried with a BIOS.BIN and without, and getting the same result EVERY time.

Constant stuttering, crackling audio in CHRONO TRIGGER.

I wish I knew what you were doing differently. Maybe we are using different PS2 models. That's all I can think of.

The Chrono Trigger game has a locked in sound when is loading, I tested this game from internal hard drive and USB HD.

    -

    I'm having problems with corrupt saves in some games;

    Jojo's bizarre adventure
    Jackie chan stuntmaster
Twisted Metal 4 (the emulator does not find the MC)

Maybe bad luck? I hope not. Anyway i'm using SCPH-77004 model and it's working ok, i have problems with music but only during loadings. When i get up i'll test it on my SCPH-39004 model.

By the way, i had strange problem once with VMC. When i was playing Chrono Trigger for some time, one day it just crashed my VMC file to 0B size and save stoped working. But day before i realized it i think i've turned off my console too early. So probably that's the source of my crashed VMC

krhacken could be possible making merge kits for ps2 games? not just for psx games, games like metal gear solid 3 subsistence are divided in 2 discs, also there is a rare survival horror game called the fear which is divided in 4 discs, it would be awesome, thank you

As we know MGS3 subsistance main game is on one disc and on other 2 disc it's only additional stuff and those two disc are not required to finish main game. Without serious reprograming of main menu it's not possible to merge them with intended goal.

I have the two discs here, disc 1 has 4,35 gb, disc 2 has 2,79 gb.

I think youre right about it, but still there are some ps2 games that are divided in discs which is needed the swamping of discs when you finish the predecessor disc, the game called ''the fear'', its a rare survival horror game and is divided in 4 discs, you can get it on the iso zone and start a project for it

I merged ff7 and fear effect discs, both gave me a black screen after PS boot logo, same thing for digimon world 3

Remember to use the edit and multi-quote button, rather than double posting! This thread is big enough naturally - it doesn't need further help growing! ;)

With a very small change to the source file you can get it working in linux. The only change I had to make to get it working in Linux was change the character it looks for when checking the full binary path. In windows file paths are used with a backslash '\' in linux it's a forwardslash '/', the program looks for the backslash character (0x5C) and if it doesnt find it fails i changed it to the forward slash character (0x2F) and it works great! Just tested Brigandine.VCD made in linux and it booted up on my ps2 fine.
Attached is the source file with changes made for linux (CUE2POPS 2.0) in a zip
Download gcc with your distributions package manager and compile the attached file

personally, i think a couple more modifications were necessary, although i mostly had tool crash on some images i had dumped in different formats years ago and had to do some converting - i mostly think cue sheets had to be regenerated for images.

Hello, can anyone answer how to get Xenogears worked using POPStarter? I have made a separate VCD of both disks and the merged one (1.31GB) but all I can get is a black screen. All I can do is to call the exit dialogue window. I was trying to launch it from USB and from __.POPS HDD's partition. If I remove XX. from the name of the game's elf then it kicks me out to XMB menu. I have DESR-5000. I am a big fan of this game, cause of that there are all 3 episodes already are installed on console's HDD and works pretty good and damn fast. All thing is remained is Xenogears.
P.S. I used the search option and found two posts where the problem was not solved.
P.P.S But if it was not solved when why the title post has the instruction how to merge xenogears disks? So I think, it is solved but I can't find how(
P.P.P.S. DESR is junk-unit, so launching the CD is not possible.(

You can launch discs from a junk DESR unit using uLE after uLE has been booted from XMB (make it an bootable PS2 item on the XMB) or you boot the DESR with FMCB.

While in PS2 mode, the writable function of the drive is disabled and it should have no issues detecting PS1/PS2 CDs or DVDs.

I already tried that, but it appears cause of my games having PAL region, they can't be launched. I have only one J-disk, but seems he is dead from scratches. I also tried to launch ESR Launcher but it doesn't work. I really don't remeber - it's getting me back to the XMB or hanging the PSX.
I tried to launch Xenogears (separate CD's, format bin+cue) on my PS3 Slim (Rebug 4.65) but there is a problem with sound - it freeze each second. Unplayable, and my PS1 is almost dead - waiting the CDROM replacement. But I think they cheet me again like they do it with PSX laser module SF-DB11 - they send me a little 2 gramms 8-pin chip! Still I have got my money back). I used Slot1Gamer aliexpress shop link from his blogspot. Hope, someone was more luckier than I. Small offtop, I am sorry.
Anyway, I really think that using PSX DVR to launch Xenogears probably possible - there is a small frase in the instruction of merging the disks about applying the PPF patches for separate CD to make game working after. I don't know where to get these patches. Well, if anyone was able to launch it somehow - I will be happy to know how. And one more thing - does PP. PC. partitions method to launch it from XMB working with POPStarter?

If I'm not mistaken, Xenogears does work with POPStarter, however there is a horrible black screen flicker everytime you take a step. Weird bug, and not playable at all (for me at least). I only tested the Squaresoft demo disc that comes with Parasite Eve, so I haven't tested the actual full game.

I've a PS2 with FreeMCBoot. I've created a game (it works on my ePSXe) using CUEtoPOPS 2.0 and POPStarter Rev 13 (latest version), the game is SMURFS 3D (Europe).
I've created a folder into my FAT32 External HDD, "POPS". Here I've putted POPS.PAK, POPS.ELF, and IOPRP252.BIN into POPS folder. Then I've copied the VCD file (with extension UPPERCASE),
then I've copied POPSTARTER.ELF into POPS folder, and I've renamed it into XX.[name_of_vcd_file].ELF

    Result: black screen.

    Two questions:
    1. what can I do to apply one of PATCH included into archive?

    2. Does I need of a BIOS? And where I need to put? Does I need to rename it?

Thanks in advantage for the new version of POPStarter! Funny work!!!! :D I wish I will start it!! :D

UPDATE: I've added BIOS.BIN into the folder of the game created on the first start (for VMC). Now it Works! Smurf 3D not starts correctly but I can see the logo of BIOS.
ADVAN RACING instead works great, but I don't remember the number of SLUS (it's an NTSC game): I've added PATCH_4.BIN into folder of the game.

New updates soon. I've seen Smurf 3D not works on HDD, I think it's all a BIOS issue.

    Hello "Klode".

    Cordialement.

    Algol.

Are you missing a file that is named "PFS_WRAP.BIN" for everything to work well with your USB installation. Required files in your POPS folder (the root of your USB device) are: "POPS.ELF", "IOPRP252.IMG" and "PFS_WRAP.BIN." The "POPSTARTER.ELF" can be put into other folders on the same USB device, a memory card, etc ...

If you want to see what happens, I invite you to make your "POPSTARTER.ELF" verbose. The documentation in the package is quite knowledgeable telling you what you need to do. If you do not succeed, I will give you a file that is ready for verbose.

One of the most effective BIOS is the PSP version "6.60". I recommend it. If you get to run games other than those mentioned in the official lists and USB HDD, please fill out these lists with your data. Thank you in advance.

    Best Regards.

    Algol.
