    Yo ElPatas

Unfortunately I'm not. My PS2 gear is still boxed and will remain boxed until I move house (in 1 month or so...). Then I'll have to get me an internet access @ my new location hehe.
For now I'm stuffing my PS3s... [OFF_TOPIC]$ONY has pooped out 4.70 hours ago... and it makes IDPStealer inoperative it seems...[/OFF_TOPIC]

I'm not sure, but probably yes, time will tell, just give the necessary time to krHACKen, when he back to work in this amazing project maybe he will surprise us with new updates. :)

    Greetings.

First and foremost thanks @krHACKen, and all others who contributed compatibility reports etc., this project is awesome!

Now, regarding two games I tested the last two days with POPStarter r13 WIP02:

    Wipeout 3 Special Edition (PAL)
This is definitely one of the most polished 3D games on PS1 and I can't believe how perfectly this is emulated. The only thing I noticed was a very short stutter when launching a "force wall", although that may even happen on a real PS1? Besides that I experienced no frame drops at all, no other weapons introduced stuttering, music and sound effects are perfect, saving and loading seems to work. Awesome!

As reported before in this thread the Namco Negcon isn't recognized by default, so I tried the following instruction by AKuHAK (thanks for this!):

PS2 games that contain drivers for the Negon include Wipeout Fusion, Ridge Racer V, Battle Gear 2/Tokyo Road Race and NamCollection. Here are the IRX files of Wipeout Fusion:

I tried quite some of those IRX files and the ones found on the other games, various combinations and also replacing the IOPRP252.IMG, but had no luck. Was anyone here successfull in getting the Negcon (or any other special device) recognized?

    Quake II (PAL)
This game is reported as working without issues and indeed runs perfectly in the beginning, which (again one of the PS1's showpieces) I find pretty amazing! But, at least for my setup, when playing a while sound issues arise. Playing the game until the first loading screen / save screen (which is done pretty fast) and continuing, the next music track starts but stops after a few seconds. This happens when simply standing still after closing the save screen prompt (reproducibly, this can be used for testing), or when playing through the next level. However, it is possible to rush through and possibly avoid the music stop, it's a bit random.
However, if you continue playing eventually all sounds will stop working and remain stopped when restarting the level. I once continued playing the silenced game, however it shortly after stopped working completely (freeze) - maybe all this is due to the same issue.

To fix the issue, I tried the following compatibility modes:

    mode 1: makes no difference
mode 2: music runs double speed, stops at the same position (takes shorter, since music plays faster)
mode 3: music runs even faster than with mode 2, switches randomly between tracks, and stops at the same position
    mode 5: makes no difference

So unfortunately no luck. It's a pity, since the game runs so well otherwise!
@El_Patas, since you are the one reporting the game compatibility: Could you please test if you encounter the same issue (or if the problem is within my setup)?

    Best regards

Jesus! PLEASE stop spamming the forum with the same post over and over again because it doesn't show up and take some time to figure out WHY.

You would have got a message as soon as you posted (every time) saying that your post is in the moderation queue waiting for approval. That means don't do anything - just be patient.

There's also this thread, which explains that new users may be moderated. If you have a problem with the forum, such as posts not showing up, it's best to check the feedback forum.

In future, if a post doesn't show up, DO NOTHING. We'll get round to approving it. DO NOT post the same thing SEVEN times! That's a new record for the forum!

Just for clarification: I wrote this post two or three days ago and tried to upload the image from my PC, which didn't work. So I uploaded it on Imgur and tried to submit the post. There was a message for literally half a second (which I of course couldn't read) and I was back to the forum with my post not showing up. After waiting some time I thought it was lost and tried it a second time, fortunately I had copied the post before (too often I've written long posts only to have them go into nirvana due to forum bugs). This time I tried to read the half-second-message and could at least read something with "... moderators ...". I thought the post would probably need approval (since I was new to the forum) and waited two or three days.

Checking back today still no post, so I concluded it must have been an issue with the forum (as written above, the image uploading didn't work either) OR some mistake of mine when posting. I did a brief Google search if there are known issues with new users posting on assemblergames, without result. What followed is exactly what you suggested - I tried to figure out WHY it didn't work, well, by trying myself (since waiting didn't work and neither searching for answers). And by your counting it took me 5 tries, with the (successfully posted) text repeatedly vanishing WITHOUT ANY of your messages when trying to edit it.

So, as you might see, not at all was I spamming the forum. Nevertheless, sorry for putting you in rage mode.

    Best regards

    krHACKen,
I have several new questions for you or someone else that can help me. First question is that some of the PS1 games have .bin files that are separated after decompression. Cue2Pops v2.0 doesn't recognize these split files, how do I fix this problem? I know that I need to merge them beforehand, just do not know the process. 2nd question is that the pixelation of some of these PS1 games are really noticeable (especially on a big screen). Can I fix this by playing the games using OPL GSM? If so, how do I set this up (third question) :)? Last question (at least for now), is there a compatibility list for playing PS1 games using Popstarter? I have games that freezes up on me at the beginning. I know that I have read about setting certain modes for certain games in order for them to work but of course, I haven't a clue how to do that.
Thanks again for your and everyone elses help. Getting better at hacking my PS2.

    AlGollan84,
Thanks for the info about the game compatibility list, I will check them out again. As I remember, one list only had pal games listed and the other had games compatible with Popstarter rev. 11 or 12?? Any answer to the split .bin files/cue2pops v2.0 issues? BTW, everything is off the hdd (none from USB). Thanks again.

Are you talking about games that come in 2 CD ?

    AFAIK, no.

He means some games come in 2 .bins like Mega Man Legends; a 1 disc game.

jutemankif is correct, that is exactly what I mean. When I extract some games using winrar, instead of having one .bin file I get several .bin files. Cue2Pops will not work if the .bin files are split. Is there a program out there that will merge these .bin files into one file? Also.....trogan files (I know that you need these to get some game to work), what are they and where are they placed in order to get these games to work? Thanks.

    IsoBuster or CDmage.
Some Gentlemen use DaemonTools to mount the splitted dump to a virtual CDROM drive, then they dump the virtual CDROM with their favorite software.

See DaSA's post above for compatibility mode PATCH files.
As for the custom crafted game fixes, just copy them into the VMC directories of the games.

Easy stuff, just use a disc drive emulator like Deamon Tools and rebuild the image in a bin/cue format by using ISOBuster or UltraISO.

edit: ops..too late... Krh got faster... :p

GillBert and rkHachen, thanks for the info and I am sure that all of this is very easy to accomplish for computer savy people but coming from a noob, I'm afraid to say but need more guidance. So, get Deamon Tools.... open it and build a new image with .bin files and the 1kb image file that I have for that game? Then from that new image use UltraISO or ISOBuster to convert image to bin/cue? If you can give me some basic step by steps how to do this..... I will appreciate it. Thanks again for your help.

    Hi everyone!
Did someone try playing parasite eve (one)?
I did (on hdd), and the game works perfectly until the end, but it freezes only after credits on the last save for starting ex mode… So, I tried continue the game normally on disc, I managed to save a new game, I transfered the save on popstarter and I started a new game… Well, the save appears, but is unusable (it doesn’t load, even on disc)!
The strange thing is that if I download a save game (always ex mode) by internet, it loads normally, and the game works.
    Have someone some idea about?
