PS2 SDK DVD - legit or bootleg?

I was about to put this up in the Marketplace, but thought I ask first, to avoid getting banned or something

I got this at eBay and it seems legit to me, but hope someone can confirm.

The disc is a professionally printed DVD-R. The print is not a sticker or paper, but printed directly on top of the disc.
The printing is of great quality, indicating it's most likely original.
Why would Sony send DVD-R instead of pressed-disc?
They probably didn't see a big-enough number of companies buying the disc (since they could just download it from the licensee site), so they just went with the cheap option: burn to printed DVD-R on demand.

I would say legit, probably faster/easier/cheaper to burn new sdk releases than having them pressed, atleast after the mid-nineties.
One of the PS2 SDK version I know of came on a DVD-RAM, it was legit for sure.
That being said, are you sure you want to sell it?
Why not releasing it instead?

Indeed the site was real, and I wouldn't be surprised if it still is, though now over vpn or something similar for licensees only.

As for releasing it, I'd gladly do so, but first I'd like to try and get back some of the money I've spent on it. It may not be much to other people, but it was quite a number for me.

EDIT: Maybe I'll trade it instead of selling, and then release it.

it does look like the one i had (now lost to time) tho mine was in one of the blue half hight sony promo? dvd cases (no cover)
i remember looking at it in dvd decrypter and being surprised it was not burned on a sony dvd

 

Isn't the newest leaked version(3.0.2) from July 2004?

If you trade it though, releasing it after the trade wouldn't be fair.

Does it have a product number DTL-Sxxxxx?If not on the disc, maybe in a readme file?
Would you list the contents of the disc?

If I sell it or trade it, I would specify that I plan on releasing it as part of the sale/trade; else it would be kind of like stabbing the buyer in the back (or pocket).
Maybe a fundraiser? Though I doubt I'd get approval from the board's staff, lol.

It doesn't have a product number in the likes of DTL-S on the disc itself, but I forgot to check that in the readme.
It is version 3.0.3, that I do remember.

I'll post the file/folder list as well as hashes once I get home.
Funny thing is: the contents of the disc are exe installers for Windows. Once installed, it can be copied to a GNU/Linux box (doesn't seem to add anything but uninstall info to the registry), but it requires Windows at least to install once. Crazy, huh?
What were they thinking? (I mean, Sony recommends Red Hat 6.2 for development, and the included compiler binaries are GNU/Linux only AFAIR.

Contrary to the leaked version, this one is complete (ie. With training videos and other stuff)

 

What's something like this go for?

 

At that point in time most/all the developers were probably using SNSystems compiler in Windows systems I would guess.
The DVD-RAM (from 2001 iirc) I mentioned also was for Windows only, all the extra stuff on it is for Windows as well (vram capture/audio and video converters/T15000 utilities/video of the dev conferences (in realvideo format)/and pdfs, lots and lots of them...)

I've been trying to get these for a long time, and saw them on ebay just recently. It was an auction starting at 0.99.
It ended at over £80 (some USD 130 according to eBay's exchange rate).

Yeah, I thought so. However if they provided the files for people to just copy/paste to the C drive, that would have worked for both Windows and GNU/Linux devs. Instead they forced GNU/Linux devs to install on a Windows PC, then copy the installed files to the GNU/Linux box.
Not a big deal, though.

The DVD-RAM I talked about earlier is actually from 2004 (SDK3.02), so I guess most of the stuff on your disc are the same.
The HDD checker is missing though...

Are the Conference Presentations .pdf files only or pdf and videos?
Any interesting stuff from after 2003 (SCEA psu, SCEE Devcon, SCEE psu, SCEI sds)?
By interesting, I mean anything related to the hdd, psbbn or performance analyzer?

 

Yes, being a minor revision I'm sure there's not much difference with the 3.02 version.

The Conference Presentations are mostly PDF files, and some PPT/PPS; no videos.
Regarding Conference Presentations, post-2003 there's only the Tools & Middleware Expo 2004 (covering Application Development Using the Eyetoy USB Camera for PS2 and PlayStation 2 Programming Tool LT)... the rest is 1999 through 2003.

 

Sorry for bumping an old thread here, but just a quick question: does this disc include CDVDGEN? If so what version is it? I don't know if you happened to share the whole thing yet, but.. if you did, I'd appreciate a link to it!
