PS2 TOOL DTL-T10000 Black Screen/No Debug info while launching PS2 Games

I have a few questions. I would like to flash my ROM but how do I dump the original ROM in case something goes wrong (in case I need to go back to it)?
Does the SDK Version need to match the new ROM version? If so, how do I get the new SDK on the Tool?
