PS2 Weird color, is this real?

Reminded me of a builders toold as it looks like the yellow from a electrical tool.

I got an odd shaped package in the mail this morning and instantly knew what it was. I furiously tore into the packaging desperate to reslove the mystery of the lime green controller. Once unwrapped it was instantly clear that this is an original Sony product. Not painted, not created by a third party. There is no "chipped paint" or "damage" at all. I don't know where you all got that idea.




I had a lot of difficulty getting a clear photo of the underside (click for fullsize). I wanted to show that the tiny text on the back is just as sharp and clear as on a black one. This would not be true if it had a layer of paint on top of it. Model number is the standard SCPH-10010.

Thankyou Cyberghost for helping me find this! I took a bit of a gamble buying this, but it has certainly paid off. Now the only problem is that I want more of these dualshock 2s in exotic colours and have no idea where to find them. Assembler you mentioned three weeks ago that you knew a seller that had them (or did have them). Did you ever get in contact with him?

Anyone have more info on their origins?

my guess is that it's from a limited edition package, packed in with a game
