Sony said that two games, Grantourismo HD and another game are in fact running at 1080p, but most ps3 games are 720P
Most morrons connect everything on composite even when they have capable televisions, for at least a decent RGB.
At least Shigeru and Ken both have something in common. A big imagination and the ability to make up stories ;-)
From IGN: PS3 Resolution Report The PS3 Digits * Gran Turismo HD -- Full 1080p * WarDevil -- 1080p * Madden 07 -- 1080i * Mobile Suit Gundam -- 1080i on show floor * Resistance: Fall of Man -- 720p, aiming for 1080 in either form (an Insomniac designer says that the game can run at 1080 in the current build, but the team is weighing the trade-off in system power consumption at that res ... basically, they can do it, and now it's all up to what's best for the game.) * Warhawk -- 720p on show floor * Heavenly Sword -- 720p on show floor * Eye of Judgment -- 720p * My SingStar -- *TBA * Genji 2 -- 720p * F1 '06 -- 720p, planning for full 60FPS but not necessarily any resolution bump-up * Virtua Tennis 3 -- 720p, planning for 1080i * Sonic the Hedgehog -- 720p * Heavy Rain -- *TBA (expected to be 1080p or 1080i, due to placement at booth -- the game was placed on monitor with a "1080" plaque, but this refers to the Sony monitor, and several PS3 games not at 1080i or 1080p were on these screens, possibly with TV-generated upscaling) * Indiana Jones -- *TBA * Full Auto 2: Battlelines -- 720p at show, the team is weighing options past that but with the defining factor being a 60FPS framerate above all else * Fatal Inertia -- *TBA * Marvel: Ultimate Alliance -- *TBA * Tiger Woods 07 -- *TBA (demo is only tech concept, running on PS3 but not really a PS3 "game" demo) * Tiger Woods 07 -- *TBA (demo is only tech concept, running on PS3 but not really a PS3 "game" demo) * NBA Live 07 -- *TBA (demo is only tech concept, running on PS3 but not really a PS3 "game" demo) * The Club -- Only playable on Xbox 360 at E3 * Tony Hawk's Project 8 -- Only playable on Xbox 360 at E3 * Haze -- Only playable on Xbox 360 at E3 * Rainbow Six: Vegas -- Only playable on Xbox 360 at E3 * Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway -- Only playable on Xbox 360 and PC at E3
It's not so much that the PS3 doesn't support 1080p, it's just developers aren't bothering to make 1080p games.
On the contrary, the selling point PS3 depends on developers to bother. The selling point of the PS3 is visuals. And if they dont bother, people who buy a Ps3 won't bother much for their games - and i dont think that SEGA would like that for their mascots, or that they're lazy, but sonic at 60Fps in 1080p is more than you can ask for a launch title.
You guys should check UK Resistence for more "Sony Lies" http://www.ukresistance.co.uk/2006/05/ps3-lie-watch-evidence-updated.html http://www.ukresistance.co.uk/2006/03/ps3-lie-watch-evidence-updated.html
Funny thing is, GTHD is just GT4 in HD, correct? I would hope the PS3 could push out 1080p version if it
Maybe it was me who dint reallly see the video very well but the demo was lacking in alot of visual features anyways. So theres no reason why they couldnt bump up the ps2 version to 1080p
Those were on the event horizon of the reality distortion field, right next to PS2's Netscape and real time Toy story graphics:katamari: Anyways, I think this image sums it all:
I can see why devs are avoiding 1080p to some extent; for a start, very, very few TVs support it, and even more so, the kind of people buying a PS3 at launch, will typically already have an HDTV (early adopters) and as such are even less likely to have TVs that support 1080p (hope you can follow my train of thought). As Time goes on, more TVs will support 1080p, and as new people buy their 1st HDTVs, they will increasingly support 1080p, but these aren't the same people that will be buying a PS3 at launch. Secondly, 1080p is a bloody high res to reach, on any system. Typically, graphically, games are sold not on resolution, but on "prettyness" - i.e. how it draws images, not the resololution it is at. Therefore a higher res does not necessarily lead to being touted as a "pretty", and as such may not lead to greater sales. Theres also the case that your typical madden/gta/generic crap buyer does not care about whether the game says 1080i or 1080p on the back. "Its a big number, So it mush be the shit!" Finally if someone is simply looking at a game graphically from screenshots, a screenshot at 1080p is identical to one at 1080i - again meaning it may not lead to more sales.
Yeah, what is the deal with the backwards compatibility? Are they going to get any graphics filters stuff or anything?
