Oh that's right they treated us with Mini-disc (semi failure) and UMD (failure), SACD (well DVD-A never took off too so you can have that one) but you're right a lot has happened but not a lot has been learned :110:

They bought the movie studio just for the movie collection certainly with the intent to enter HD video market as a content provider and to gain credibility to get other studios to join in its Blu-Ray consortium, not a bad idea IMO. This time they are making SURE they can impose the format upon us rather than wait and see if it's getting accepted. Not bad strategy to force one into a direction, kind of dictatorial though???

They bought Psygnosis for a whole load of different reasons, Wipe out and development tools are easy guesses, same reasons they bought SNSys. Sony is not really good at providing dev tools for its consoles.

Very nice pics DS4 that dev kit sure look sexy, looks like an old Sony CD Player (no offence) it's got that early 90's electronics look.

It looks ok - bit boring though.....

Not like the PS2 TOOL - That still looks the mutts nuts! It's a huge PS2!

  5. The top row are LEDs, which are "GPO" (General Purpose Output).
The bottom row are switches, which are "GPI" (General Purpose Input).
They're used for debugging (it's much easier to light an LED or read a button than it is to fire some text off to the screen or read the pad).
Also, I think they're used during boot time to set certain flags, how much RAM is enabled, for example.

Maybe there is an HDMI signal coming through the multi out. Is that possible?

Maybe Sony couldn't afford one of those expensive HDMI cables. Spent all their money on a giant TV that had HDMI and didn't have anything left for the cable. Or maybe someone saw it and stole it knowing how much those would go for.

Speaking of which, did you notice that the TV's were made by Samsung? What does that say about Sony?

A few documents about the ps3 devkit have been posted on FCC, Radio Test Results, Logo sticker/position, and two letters about the product.

    Here is the logo sticker:

The ps3 devkit is called "Reference Tool", product number DECR-1000A.

The following documents will be available on 10/24/2006, unless Sony requests a 45-days extent of the confidentiality period:
