Why does me spending a few dollars to buy my favorite cars on GTHD make me an idiot? Arnt all video games a waste of money? Yes, they are.
My thoughts are that in the west this will be a disc with many cars on like traditional versions of the game. The Japanese market is more accepting of micro-payment ventures of this nature and will pay more for single items like this. Look how many retro releases over there come out here in large compliation discs. I can't imagine people biting the bait here.
