My friend's PS3.. 1st Gen 60GB. He updates the firmware and after that he pops in some games/dvd it runs for like 1-2 min after that and it will just hang or in short wont boot up. Best thing is the warranty just ended last week. So anyone know whats the problem? Some guys say he gotta change the Blu ray DVD Player or perhaps get 'software system' changed. Firmware is 2.53. Thanks
if the warranty ended last week they might go easy on him, he just has to sound convincing on the phone.
Sell it and get a 360 ;-) KIDDING! Well, I prefer the 360 personally, but that's no reason to give up on a console just because they're having problems (again) with updates.
Hmm, I just bought a PS3... found system update - DIVX streaming is fubar. Sorry, OT. I think your friend should phone up and say something along the lines of... "this started a couple of weeks ago, I thought the firmware issue would fix it, only made it worse" with vocal puppy-dog eyes kinda tone... best of luck!
I know that in European and Americans forums, tons of people are complaining about that problem. So far the best solution found was either to change your optical lens, or to buy a... x360 !
My PS3's Blu-Ray drive died eight days after the warranty ended, but Sony fixed it anyway. Phone them up and see what they say.
Funnily enough my PS3 I bought soon after Japanese release is still working 100% even though I transport it around the world as checked in luggage. Updated the machine and have had zero problems.
