hi, my brother wanted to play gt6 on his monitor(which has hdcp), so i connected my brothers super-slim ps3 to his monitor using a hdmi-dvi cable, which i now found out was broken and fried the hdmi port of his super-slim ps3. is there anything i could do? :/ i think there are some fuses burnt i guess? richard
video/audio still comes out of the av-output. i also tried this on my tv and his tv: reset the ps3 to use component audio/video output through av-output, at the same time hook up the hdmi cable too. when i turn on the ps3, it will ask if i want to change to hdmi and if i press yes and switch the tv to hdmi it say's no signal on his tv, but on my tv recognises that the ps3 is connected(hdmi-cec) but still no signal.
but shouldnt fuses blow instead, or is it unprotected ? edit: i found something mentioning some resistors, gotta try that, eventhough it's not for the super-slim. http://forums.cvxgameconsolerepair.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=6158
No usually there are no fuses on video connectors. Resistors could be fried I suppose but don't confuse them with being fuses.
yeah my bad. the only thing i could find on the super slim were the 2 8pin parts near the hdmi port that seem to match the pins of the hdmi chip of older ps3 consoles were the resistors are. are these the resistors? i markd them in red circle's. http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/546/iyyp.jpg
