I was referring to Super Mario Galaxy, which has repeatedly got reviews of 9.5 or above in the popular press (Wired Magazine gave it 10/10, IGN gave it a 9.7, Gamespot 9.5, Eurogamer: 10/10, GamesRadar: 10/10, CVG: 9.5, GamesMaster Magazine: 97%). You could say I rounded up a little, but a few of those were indeed 10ers.

I dont think that Super Mario Galaxy is the Game most Wii-Owners was waiting for...

But lets dont discuss about Mario. In the past i was a huge Mario-Game Fan with Super Mario Land on GB, Super Mario World on SNES but the last big Mario Game which i was interested in was Super Mario 64...

I know there are a lot Mario Fans and thats good, but in my eyes Super Mario Galaxy is not a game which is worth buying a Wii.

I don't think anyone really believes that 30mins blast on the Wii is a serious work out or equal to joining a health club, however many people are actually realising that it's ''fun'', whilst you can compete against various family members in a very interesting way. Go back a decade or two and you had more family orientated board games such as ''Twister'' which was NOT a cardiovascular workout, but was seriously good fun and if you were lucky you could have your best mates older sister land giggling on top of you and create a whole realm of school boy crush!

The BBC reported last week that an old folks home in England have installed a Wii in the communal area and the residents are having a whale of a time!

Nintendo hit the nail on the head as far as I am concerned. They produced a fun product that involves people, has more appeal to children and those not necessarily turned on by ultra-real next gen graphic depictions and more importantly - the female of the species!

It's not an exact science. We could invariably see a post Christmas slump and that would result in a Gamecube style slide into obscurity, however that's not a forgone conclusion even if the ''serious'' gaming community at large feels the Wii does not appeal to them, the gaming community is increasing due to the broad appeal Nintendo's unit has created. Besides, there is room in all our lives for something a little less realistic and a bit more fun such as Mario Galaxy!

Who can predict whether Mr. Smith (85 years old) decides one morning to spend some of his weekly pension on a bit of Mario or not! The day will come lol

I'm just glad to see Nintendo doing well. They'll always have a special place in my heart. How can you not? But that's just me.

    I doubt it.

I gotta make sure my parents get it for my sis. Otherwise I'm going to be miserable over winter break w/out my 360...

lol, sorry youre wrong. I own a Wii and i played it enough to say that its not the kind of game i want to play anymore. nothing more. i dont say its bad or something. its just nothing for me and i know many people who think like me.
but you can ignore what you want, maybe its better if you dont click on any "maybe-negative-nintendo-Thread" in the future.

Excuse me, but if you're a platformer fan you'd be excited. Galaxy introduces many concepts in a genre that was defined by M64 and since stayed stale for so long.

    best platformer ever??

    no way man, ...

that crown is for both sonic 2 (genesis) and mario 2 (snes) ...

the rest is as original as could be a new FIFA.

Fair enough, but Wired is not a gaming magazine.

Sega will never die. Infact the Dreamcast STILL has support from some shmup companies and such. Besides there have been more faulty 360's and PS3's than Dreamcasts and such. So what does that tell you?

It tells me you're spewing absolute BS. 360s yes, but PS3s? Give me a fucking break. Some shump componies supporting the DC means it will never die? Oh, yeah. LSD is bad, mmkay? Also, anyone notice most of the anti-inty shit is coming from posters who have a fetish for anything and everything SEGA? Makes you wonder... ;-)

Yeah, plenty of DCs died from bad drives. I dare say many from CD-r use.

This I've never understood. What is it about CD-Rs that make them kill DCs?
