PS3 User Interface looks like PSP's GUI! And upgradable standard HDD

I can do most of this on my Xbox 1 already.

I don't want a menu for my game system, or the ability to surf the web on my console - that's what my PC is for.. =/

 

good point, mairsil. I would have been happier for a lower price-point, too. considering what is in the package though, it's still considerably cheaper than x360 with all the additions to it. in the end, despite that I don't like justifying the high price for this system, I'm happy at least that it's lower than the competition at a comparable stance, and the fact that I'll still be able to play my favorite games nex gen.

the $499 version ps3 is probably more comparable to the premium version x360. they both have 20GB HDDs, they're both nex gen systems, both do not have wifi built in, and both cannot push 1080p. Plus, the ps3 gets Blu Ray for just $100 more than the premium x360.

Why do you come here and try to sell the damn machine to us? Its not like we cannot hear what hyping sony is doing for it alone.

Its not like we dont know the ps3 exist, or that we dont hear the same news as you, on the other hand we know most of the stuff their are saying is hyping bullshit, and it seems like you dont.

You like the ps3? Good for you. But why i the hell do you feel the urge to change peoples mind over the ps3 like that? I mean, will it really change something for you? Or will it just proove you that you like the system?

 

When you're handilng a bicycle its understandable to have simple controls. But when you're in charge of a Humvy you want absolute control. In the same way I wouldn't want to have a simple interface for a beast like the Ps3 when I actually and personally want to push it to its limits as a computer , not an entertainment system. all that power inside it has been payed for for the dear price of 600US greens, at least they should give people a chance to make good use of it beyond what SONY thinks people want.

for one thing, I'm not a fanboy. all the systems will find their place in my entertainment rig in time. the ps3 has reason for my more focused attention at this time. And I've been around these boards before - you probably don't remember StarCaine

I'm aware you know the ps3 exists. I'm unaware if the folks here know about all the amazing features the ps3 has to offer. that would require a bit of homework/research, which I've done already.

if you don't like the ps3 or its price, there's nothing I can do for you.

It would be safe to assume that most people posting here have more in depth knowledge about hardware than your average Joe, so to be honest, it does sound a bit like marketing the PS3, not to be offensive or anything.

I don't know maybe saying i expected linux was a little rash . I was more looking for something to really beat out XBMC for a standard xbox .

I really just mean that it is way to simple for something with that kind of power .

Yes simplicity is nice , but for 600 bucks I want to do more than look at movies and pictures . Embrace the power that is inside of it and sony will definetly be better off .

 

I admire the simplicity and ease of use the PS3's interface adopts. for me, it looks simple enough a 5-year-old can understand the icons, and sleek enough to be worthy of being called a "work of art." I think the shock comes to us when we realize we're paying the price of a low-end computer for what has traditionally been known to us as a "toy", the gaming machine.

if it were anything like the PStwo's GUI, which was hardly anything to show for, and hardly any cutomizability at all as far as themes and wallpapers, then it would be boring... and that's a large part of the reason why I'm excited about having XMB in PS3.

What that they have copied just about everything they could from nitendo and microsoft and then thought hell why not just stick the psp menu in there its less work for us...
