You can now install CFW on your PS3 using a webkit exploit on OFW 4.82, which is the lastest PS3 firmware as of 11/25/2017.

    PSX-Place
    PSXHAX

Same rules apply as before, you can only install CFW on a PS3 that has a minver of 3.56 or lower. Which you can check at PSdevwiki (the far right column that says downgradeable min), or by using minverchk. In short you can install CFW on all phats and some slims. But you can't install CFW on super slims.

You can also dump your IDPS and currently do NOR dumps, NAND dumping is being worked on but is not released.

I tested it out on a Slim I have and it does indeed work, it can take a while though. I think it wound up taking almost two hours for me to actually do it. I did however dump both my IDPS and NOR before writing to the NOR. Right now the exploit is a bit fiddly, expect to restart your PS3, open and close the browser, and refresh the browser a ton of times in order to get it to work.

You'll need to install a 4.82 CFW or Toggle QA Flag to install a lower version CFW. There is a modified version of Rebug 4.81 that you can use without needing to QA Flag Toggle, you can find it in the links above.

    SUPERSLIMS ARE NOT SUPPORTED
Spending weeks telling people this and they wont listen so let's keep that going

CECH25XX with minver AT 3.56 CAN make use of this
CECH25XX with a minver HIGHER than 3.56 CANNOT make use of this
    CECH3XXX CANNOT USE THIS
    CECH4XXX CANNOT USE THIS

never thought this would happen tbh, good to see now maybe mine will be of some use again :p
quick question,, I don't see it as necessary in the instructions , but should I be dumping nor first just in case I need to recover via hardware flasher? (sorry prob a stupid ? but I only know 360 stuff which we all know is dump it all,, always,,, many times LOL)

You don't have to, it's pretty safe as is. But I would still recommend doing it just in case. Better to be safe then sorry and all that.

But even if it somehow does cause a brick you should be able to fix it without a backup anyway. So it's mostly a peace of mind kind of thing.

EDIT: At least on supported consoles.

NOR WRITING/CFW FLASHING DOES NOT WORK ON SUPER SLIMS

Yeah sometimes I'm just not sure if people can read anymore. When selling stuff on eBay I'm constantly amazed at just how many people ask me questions that are literally answered in the title of the item. "What size hard drive does it have?" Title: PS3 Slim 320GB.

Your PS3 woke up in the future, to a world where fidget spinners are "a thing".

I found that after playing that game for a while I'd finally get a SUCCESS! Then it would freeze, but after force shutting it down and trying again it would work pretty soon after without freezing.

Pssst have you heard? Super Slims are not supported.

I'm just going to say that in every post, if you read the threads in the links in the original post (and any other ones relating to PS3Xploit) PixelButts is not kidding about how often people ask about Super Slims (which are not supported btw).

Although I think in general here on AG people actually bother to read at least the original post and some of the thread before asking a question.

EDIT: I had the modified rebug thing in my original post, originally but I must have deleted it on accident. Adding it back.
    Edit2: I have an idea :p

20 GB NAND Write was successful after about 4-5 attempts.
From there, you can install 4.82 FERROX and then jump down to Rebug 4.81.2.

This website is incredibly convenient: http://redthetrainer.com/ps3/

The Rebug update file from the linked site worked. The CEX update file from Rebug's website crashed early in the installation process to a corrupted data error screen. FERROX claims to have QA flagging enabled by default.

I ripped a few PS2 games from my shelf with MultiMAN (SF Anniversary, God of War, Simpsons Hit and Run). They ripped OK but they wouldn't boot from MultiMAN and kept crashing back to the XMB. After enabling webMAN and COBRA mode in Rebug Toolbox, they work and run in native PS2 mode off the HDD. It appears that ripping discs with a PC and transfer by FTP/flash drive is the better option. The system did not like ripping God of War, it was harsh on the drive and it produces a lot of heat.

    Irrelevant and fake news.
I'll see it when it happens. Even when it happens if there's even a slight chance homebrew needs to be modified to make it work then I can promise you nobody will care.

Hypervisor exploit is what you should go for if you want superslims to get their full potential, and thats not happening anytime soon.

Figured I might as well post this here.

    PSX-Place BEWARE FAKE EXPLOIT

Fake websites are popping up for the exploit that can brick your console, because of course they are.

I was joking. On topic I wonder how long psn will be up for a ps3. I have a slim that I Installed cfw on using a hardware flasher, but I have often thought of buying a reballed 60gb. I had 60gb a long time ago, but after 30 minutes of play the gpu would spaz out.
