Is there already some useful/interesting software supported by this hack? I had the ps3 jailbroken years ago and i remember nothing about how the process worked

 

No, this works only for the OG PS3 and PS3 Slim that was released before 2010.

 

It depends what you find interesting or useful You of course have homebrew stuff, the ability to install Linux again, emulators, running games off of the hard drive that you've backed up etc...

I don't normally turn to Reddit for stuff but Derf_Jagged (and anyone else who has contributed) has done a pretty good job of compiling a bunch of this stuff in a easy to read and find format on the PS3Homebrew Wiki.

Nothing new honestly. "New" would be the Devkit CFW that I managed to get Rebug to make since there were more and more showing up. There's problems with that too but much less than expected.

It means if you QA'd on 3.55 then it will remain QA'd, the method for QA flagging consoles changed after 3.55 but Ferrox has been patched so it honours the old QA.

You get a corrupted error because you didn't QA and didn't install in recovery. I wouldn't trust a hacked REBUG install for the sake of a few minutes.

 

My mistake. I used Habib QA toggle and completely forgot about it.

The file that I linked to is on the same website that hosts the exploit that I used. It was verified to work by a few people over at r/ps3hacks. I downloaded it directly from the browser and then moved/renamed it with Multiman's built in file manager. Easy, convenient.

I had a 60 GB with a 3.55 CFW variant in 2011 and largely fell out with what's happening after the PSN fiasco. It has come a long way.

 

You saying this is fake news. And it's directly relevant. The devs of ps3xploit announced it themselves.

 

what way do you guys use to restart the PS3 after running Habib-QA_Toggle when it returns to XMB in preparation to install REBUG ?. I have a method that works but it is lengthy so i'm looking for a faster method when i do my other PS3's.

 

More faster method: after you use ps3xploit, just install directly "Rebug 4.81.2 REX 4.82Syscon Thibobo.PUP" without having to install "4.82 Ferrox CFW" first.

It is still much more simple to ignore this exploit.
There's a number of issues I have with it that make me question the point of it. Sure great another exploit but it's still less versatile than the 3.55 method, and has more limitations than the 3.55 method.

BTW, I have a slim with a CFW I didn't update in an eternity. What would be the best firmware to update to?

I'm only using the CFW to avoid changing discs, using webman I think.

 

I managed to get it installed, took two tries, first one went over 15min and froze, second time it was a breeze.

Backed up one of my PS3 games with multiman, that went okay
I couldn't get the sound to work on CDDA PS1 games, only sound effects, is this a known issue, any tips?

I have a PS3 which had been jailbroken at one point, using a E3 flasher.
It was then updated to OFW some time ago.
I somehow cannot get this exploit to work?
I have had the "Succes" twice, but console just freezes and does not turn off.

Is the former jailbreak somehow, blocking the exploit in writing to the Nor?

Any help would be appreciated!

 

I had trouble with 'newer' USB flash drives. It would hang consistently - Remedied it by using a three or four year old Sandisk USB drive.
