Meh. I dont support the idea anyway but they should a waited a year and pushed out something more powerful if they were gonna do it. With an extra year and this in the market, MS can shit all over the Pro in power. I love(d) Sony but I think I'm done, especially if next gen we get the rumoured upgradable PlayStation (and Xbox). At that point just get a PC anyway. Oh, and Nintendo's console too
Pretty interesting that the PS4 won't support it but Xbox One S does. I don't know anyone with a 4k tv, so i don't think it's that big of a deal at the moment.
Kind of pointless if it doesn't have 4K Blu-ray support. Guess I'll stick to playing 4k mkv's on my 780ti.
I have the bad feeling that we will get slightly tweaked systems every 1 - 2 years in the future... feels like the smartphone "system" spreads to the console marked
I'd be OK with that as long as games stay compatible with hardware that's a few generations behind. Should help drive down the prices of used systems. I don't always need the very latest and greatest. Also, it might give the Steam Machines a fighting chance, since they're basically operating on that principle already. And paying PC prices for console games is something I wouldn't be complaining about either.
Some HDR details: HDR10 (10 bits) output, BT.2020 colorspace. No Dolby Vision (12 bits). Anyone care to elaborate on wether this means "won't work at all with some devices" or just "won't optimally use available resources", be my guest, because honestly I have no idea. Oh, and I see the Gamespot article mentions an optical output on the Pro. They removed that one on the Slim, iirc.
PS4 Slim looks enticing. I'm tempted to either pick one up, or find a marked down new old stock OG PS4.
Got a PS4 Pro pre-ordered last night. I currently have two PS4 consoles right now, will be keeping one of them but selling the other one before the price drops on it. Posted it up for sale last night and have a buyer situated!

If they keep trying to compete with PCs, they'll need to release new versions every 6 months. I"ll keep my PS4 "Amateur" for now.
https://www.playstation.com/en-gb/explore/ps4/tech-specs/ look again, the normal ps4 has max 165W the Pro 310W what is the GPU usage at all. Looks like near a fury X. Maybe they use a AIO Water cooling solution from AMD to cool it down.
Yeah, for some reason, when I hit the pro button nothing updates for me. Which is why I thought they were both 165.
