I'm sorting 100 of them for disposal, and only two bad out of 20 so far.
If lasers were cheaper the ones I am junking would still work.

What about the PSIO project? Maybe even those with non working lasers could be profitable?

A working 1001 psone is worth all of $15.

Anything newer is worth even less. (9001)

I don't think it's worth it. I've had these for over ten years. Time to get rid of them.

What do you mean by PSone? If you mean a SCPH-1001, that's not a PS One. The PS One is the smaller, redesigned version.

I'd be interested in them too, if you're just planning on throwing them away.

Nooo, don't throw them away. Donate or sell for a small price if you really must get rid of them.
I'm sure you'll have bunch of people interested very quickly especially because 100x models are in demand over the whole audiophile thing (be it real or not there still is a hype).

I spent ages trying to find (cheap) 1002 units in my country and so far I only got two (which were broken, fixed one so far). Sucks to see that someone is actually throwing these away.

I call them psone as the search engines have problems with the term. It's like calling the xbox original "xbox 1".

Everyone knows psone and it avoids the confusion.

The broken ones? You're welcome to them. The working ones I still have no idea what to do with yet.

I think you mean PS1. A lot of people call it that these days, though that's not really correct either.

Yeah. I started to call them "PS1" because whenever I or someone else uses the term "PSX" someone bit**es about the PSX DVR.
The fact that the "PSX" term was used ages ago before DVR doesn't seem to matter I guess. Even the executable has a "PS-X" signature.

I'm in Europe so shipping would be costly. Thanks for the offer though.

Are they the original with rca cables that go in the back instead of the sony connector? You should sell them here.

I'd like to know this too.
Also, I'd buy a PAL one if it's available.

There's nothing special about SCPH-1002 whatsoever. Have a chipped boxed one that has gone on eBay multiple times and not had a single bid (even at 99p).

Honestly, as long as you aren't using PSX to refer to the PlayStation/PSone you're doing alright in my books.

If by 1001 you mean the original SCPH 1001 model playstation's, don't trash them those are original U.S. launch models and are commonly sought after by audio enthusiasts because most SCPH 1001 model playstations have a DAC by Ashahi Kasei Microsystems and RCA output you could be getting some decent money for these even if they don't have drives because of the hardware itself.
