Audiophile thing is out of date (i.e. its not as expensive to get something equal anymore - so the appeal isnt as high), they are also extremely common and worth next to nothing as assembler noted. I have been selling modding ps1's for £9 and make no distinction between the "audiophile" and later revisions.
I'm also going to chime in here for interest in buying a working one. Looking to get launch versions of consoles. Thanks.
Oh sorry, I missed the part where calling a console by the wrong name is funny. Will add that to my repository of jokes to break out at the dinner parties. Thanks
I'd love to know if it's the slim or the FAT ps1. If it's the FAT one, I'd love to get one of the broken ones. I could even PAY some for it.
Now it's really funny. PSone FAT PSone Slim Or is it PSX Fat PSX slim. Bad ad_84 must be having an aneurism right now.
The term PSX was used by the devs early on as a sort of acronym for PlayStation eXperimental - it caught on and everyone used it. I still refer to Gray models as PSX and the newer as PSOne. But hey, each to his own...
It's an informal name. Not any different than how there was no 1st party console marketed or branded with names like Genesis 2 or SNES 2.
Nevermind. I just read on wikipedia that models up to 5001 were having issues with laggy fmvs.. That's no good, how am I supposed to play a game like Fear Effect or watch a movie like Welcome to collinwood?
He didn't say any of the things you said. Ps1 and psone are different. Heres me expecting you to know something about all this. Only reason he's asking is because your "to avoid confusion" naming, is causing confusion.
Call the redesign - PSone Call the previous model - Playstation Call the DVR - PSX Times have changed and the bickering about this is just stupid, come on guys.
PS1 was called PSX way before any DVR came along. I call the PS1 and PSOne for PSX and consider myself right in doing so. And I also call the games PSX games
Let's just call them by model number: "I have a bunch of games for my SCPH-7502 on the shelf!" Also, the only original PlayStation I'd gotten so far, that was (almost) completely dead, was a 1002. And the two with the broken drives I've got here are 1002s as well...
There are two types of 1002, the launch ones are similar to the 1000 (i.e. they have the GPU that has banding issues).
