i have a schp-102. it doesn't read original discs, but backup discs are working, so it's not a laser problem. i don't know what type of modechip is, but i think it's a onechip because is connected like the one in the photo. the modchip is placed on the chip where the 2 and 7 point are. could that be a problem? when i remove the modchip, the original discs are working.

Probably a wide guess, but are the games your using contain any kind of anti-pirate/modchip code in them?

That diagram looks like the scph-101 board, not tthe 102.. correct me if I'm wrong. I have to go home and look at my PS1 mod archives

i think 101 is ntsc and 102 pal. but i know for sure that there are 2 versions of psone boards: pm41 and pm41(2)

psone modchip won't load pal on ntsc, nor ntsc on pal.
It only does region and cdr. For ntsc / pal you need bios mod.

Mine loads both just fine, no idea what the chip is programmed with though.

I took the chip out of my SCPH-101 and popped it into my SCPH-1001 and it took the changing of a few wires on the chip as well as a few different diagrams before I found the right combo to get it to boot everything properly.

  10. The same here. My SCPH-102 (PAL console) play fine my NTSC games :D (originals and backups). I don't play on my console PAL games :p.

the color mod has nothing to do with booting discs. what color mod does: if you play a ntsc game and you have a tv without ntsc support, the game will be in black and white. after you apply the color mode, the ntsc games will have colors.

My chipped PAL PSone plays only PAL.
I read about a booting disc for the chipped unit can boot ntsc. Anyone use this disc, or can link a mod for NTSC/PAL PSone?

I used to have some PSX import disc, it was called "Breaker Pro" or some such thing, but I don't remember PAL discs ever working. It did load NTSC-J on NTSC-US flawlessly though.

    It's called IMPORTPLAYER

    ImportPlayer instructions for PSone
    What is ImportPlayer?
ImportPlayer is a loader CD for the Playstation (you need a modchip). Its useful for changing the region code of the CD from PAL to NTSC or vice versa. It can help load import games for use in the PSone (with the aid of a modchip), as the PSone, even with a modchip installed can only load the same territory games as the console itself. The ImportPLayer loader CD can get past this problem, and let you boot your import CD on your PAL or NTSC PSone with a modchip installed.

How to Boot Import games on your PSone?
    1) Install a modchip in the PSone
    2) Insert the ImportPLayer CD loader, and Turn on your Playstation
    3) When the ImportPlayer CD loads, and presents a Menu, you can select any of three options.
For best results, just leave them all "OFF".
    4) Follow the screen instructions to swap the loader CD with your import game CD, and continue.
    5) Your import game should load with no trouble.

You can get from HERE PAL VERSION

If you mean PSone as in the small white one, yes. You either needed a disc or a proper PSone chip (I had some that came with stickers saying PASSPORT).

I would say a quick Google for said PSone boot CD will give you and old popular site with the files needed!

    Easy fix.

The GREEN wire must be wired to the board.

Without the green wire soldered, you can not play originals.

I had the same issue as I forgot to solder it on...

(If it is soldered on, then it may not be soldered on the correct pin or link on the PSone mainboard)

The PSone had a few revisions, which is annoying, and each revision needs to be wired differently with a modchip. Other consoles don't seem to have revisions much; however even the official Playstation controllers can look different inside and wire differently inside. Annoying!
