Hey guys, I need some help with the patched net yaroze boot cd and serial loaders. Just did the serial port mod on my modchipped SCPH-102 and it turned out very tidy. I am using a PL-2303 serial converter to do the work to connect it from the DB-9 in the ps1 to my pc's usb port. Then I burned a cracked net yaroze boot cd, hitman serial loader and also the psxserial loader on to 3 different cds using cdburnerxp. Hitman loader suggested to use CDRWIN so I used it for that. However none of my disks boot on my PS1. Images worked OK in the emulator but my disks also don't work in the emulator (they say IOcontrol: raw read error, the parameter is incorrect.) So basically I burned 3 lemon/coaster CD-Rs. Any idea why this is happening? I saw everyone else has success. Let me know if you can help! Maybe I'm burning it wrong.... Jamie
Try using ImgBurn - there is nothing magic about the yaroze disc or the serial boot disks and it should just work. The yaroze boot disk that's floating around the net has a Japanese boot sector on it, but it looks like that console has a OneChip in it, so it should still boot.
As TriMesh suggested, try burning your disc images with ImgBurn. I remember that some CDRWIN versions (4.0 and higher I think, since I use 3.9K) burn coasters when cracked or activated with an unlegit license...
PS1 and PS2 want MODE2XA CD-ROM discs only. Nothing else will work. And doesn't matter what burning program you're using if you're burning the discs with the wrong settings. I suggest you check if the "ISO" file you have is on the right format. P.S.: PC Emulators don't care about the format the ISO file is at since they try to be "smart" and fix any problem with the emulation data without user intervention. That doesn't happen on a real PlayStation for obvious reasons.
The cool thing with ImgBurn is that it autodetects the disc image format and sticks to it, unlike some other burning programs which prompts the user to select the correct track modes and the disc/track finalization. Just make sure it says MODE2/FORM1/2352 before you burn your PS1/PS2 disc images, otherwise you'll have to convert them to the proper format or better get them from somewhere else (some noobs rebuild PS1 discs using programs that vomit MODE1/FORM1/2048 ISOs without the SCEX license sectors). Ooooh, I see the last ImgBurn version supports text cuesheets ! Time to get rid of the infamous CDRWIN (I used the long time outdated ImgBurn v2.3.2.0 for burning single track PS1/PS2 CD-ROMs till now, dumb me...)
