Could you tell me which chip/package form factor you have used? And do you have the pin outs for the PS one board? I assume your ftdi chip came with the USB port on it.

    Perhaps you used this one?

Ideally id like to use a mini usb not the larger form factor..

    these seem like an alternative

    Great bump!

I actually started to make my own RS232 for the PS1. I just ordered the chips, and now I am designing the PCB. I will etch it soon and make a video of it in action.

I am *secretly* working on a process that will convert a PS1 into a dev kit for home users ;)

Still waiting for parts in the mail...

I got the drive laser adjusted perfectly for reading CD-RW's. STR's play perfect and I could play Bust a Groove without any track skipping, or delay.

I will read what the pot is adjusted to and make a guide...

I was also going to dip dye the case black. So it is somewhat a home made Yaroze dev unit. I call it, PSYAROZE

    I will keep you updated...

Oh. I am not doing a USB mod. Just a simple RS232 for a PS1.

I don't have a spare PSone. Well, I do, but it is brand new and I do not want to mod it.

Besides, all the work I do is only based on the original consoles. SCPH-1000 to maybe the 7500 series.

Sure is. It's just a quick build to get the PSX homebrewers making stuff.
This will probably be too slow for uploading, but it will do, and it will help fund for the 'high-speed' USB comms link parallel version.

Sounds good, i just want something that plugs into PSone using a USB Port ( a mini usb would be great ) and of course USB on the PC side.. and something that still works with sicons as thats what ive been using most..
