The disc in the picture was supposedly a beta 3.0 firmware sent to individual for beta tests with official PS1 emulation and support for other media formats. It was believed to be a fake. No clue about disc you found.
Wait, didn't games also include updates to their required firmware? I'd consider this to be more of an upgrade service disk than a "downgrade" magic disk.
I don't think anyone thought it was a 'downgrade' disc (did they?) It's just the normal retail firmware on a disc... If you have lower than 3.73, it'll update it for... Higher than 3.73, and it will just give you the usual message that you already have a higher firmware...
if you could take a pic of your disk that would be great if just for the chance to see what this disk looks like
Click on the link in the first page you can see a picture of in the auction. Interesting collectable! I've never seen one before.
Unfortunately the auction will be off in ~90 days, however, at bitGamer, someone suggested that I look up a redump guide and make a better dump. I guess I could include a scan of the disc with the release.
What did they say was wrong with dump you already made? Seemed perfectly okay to me... Just out of curiosity, it is silver on the other side, right? Like a normal game UMD?
Just needs to dump it with pspfiler to satisfy redump I think. And yes it's same on the back like normal
Do you have one too? I was just curious about the other side... If there was ever a use Sony would put their non-existent (but often fantasized about) UMD burner, it'd be something like this... And still curious as to why people think a redump is required? What about the current .ISO is telling them something is wrong with it?
