clap clap for having anyway of doing this without a $600 buy-in. Besides, as long as you limit yourself to games you own I don't see it being an issue, just space-shifting. If I could buy them I would, but the PS3 requirement is asinine. At least if Sony ever does allow for direct purchasing I will be able to use it on my PSP and still retain my homebrew.
as long as you limit yourself to games you own I don't see it being an issue, just space-shifting Now that's the problem usually now, isn't it? If they did trust the consumer they wouldn't go to such greath lenghts to secure everything from piracy in the first place
This hack, if used in the right hands is great, the ability to play homebrew titles, and watch legally owned imported umd videos is great, all while being able to play the latest games is simply amazing However, many.....far too many people use this homebrew capabilities to play iso's and pirated software on their psps. The psp is perhaps the simplest machine to pirate software on since the dreamcast. Personally, I cant be bothered to take the several hours to download a psp iso, then realize it wont fit on my memory stick. I'd just rather go out and buy the game *Edit* BTW, i havent looked into the whole custom firmware thing since d-grading to 1.5, am i still able to downgrade back to 1.5 if i decide to upgrade to 3.02se? Ryan
Apparently there is a "failsafe" menu that you can boot into to re-install a clean 1.5 bios. If I hadn't given up on homebrew and updated I would kill for this for the same reason as Giel, region free would be a godsend, my US PSP would finally be able to use some local films!
Only nice parts about this is region free umd movies (japan gets some cool stuff on umd movies). Hacked ps1 stuff is bad. it's gonna make sony cut off doing this which will suck. I want to one day see sony give us MGS1 or C:SOTN or FF7 to play on the psp. Wouldn't that be like the 3rd time already. Sorry i'm never on msn anymore evangelion.
Tachikoma: How high did you upgrade? They just released a downgrader for f/w 2.8. Higher than that though no luck (for now...)
Hmmm......i like what i see, and man was that ever a painless flash, one bit that i dont like is that it seems that my psp takes longer to start up. Thankfully i dont have to devhook anymore to play my umds, and can still get all my homebrew too Ryan
I think the (slightly) longer startup is due to the built in recovery mode which is loaded prior to anything else. So if your PSP 'bricks' you can hold 'R' at start to recover back to 1.5.
This just keeps getting better : http://www.qj.net/3-02-OE-B-will-run-your-own-Playstation-games-/pg/49/aid/77235 I honestly can't believe the advances that have been made in the homebrew scene Ryan
Speak for yourself /me starts ripping his PSOne games Honestly, they (Sony) should have allowed this from the start, but do the online downloading as well for people who don't already have the games.
