You have obviously never had a proper chat with Yakumo before, he has not got any issues with Sony, he just doesn't have any intrest in most of the games for their systems. I'm not arselicking here either, I would be the first to agree with you if I thought he did have any issues with SCEJ, but having talked to himproperly many times over the years, I know he doesn't.Please man listen to what he said, he was getting at people like me who have succumbed to the hype because of price :smt045

On a final note, get the jap version CC, you wil get lovely packaging and it's region free.mmmmmm nice packaging mmmm. :)

EDIT by AntiPasta: fixed this quote too :smt043

So out of the thousands of PS2 releases you don't like any? The PS2 has the best support from third party developers of any console. It has some of the best, most original and truely inspiring software ever made. To say that none of it interests you is just like saying "I don't like video games".

Gotta say i agree with yakumo. There is no compelling reason for me to buy a psp (or ps2), as there aren't any games i desperately want.
Of course there are games that i know are good games but don't interest me, and there are games that do interest me...but not enough to buy the console. For me my money is more wisely spent on a console/games that i am going to enjoy for a larger percentage of the time. Different people have different tastes remember, and their system(s) of choice reflect these...

i was pretty anti sony back in the Dreamcast days, but since sega went multi format, you can get a lot of good titles... and i don't just meen sega ones... ps2 has now become THE current-gen console to have for things like 2d fighting games... snk playmore and sammy, not having the dreamcast around, use the ps2 as their platform now... with the result of more gamers picking up a good 2d fighter. Hell, capcom even ported SFIII:Third Strike to the ps2 years after the DC release... for me, games like kof and virtua fighter ect are too good to miss out on for the sake of not liking the company who makes the console.

   )

I wasn't interested before the "price drop" (so to speak), 'cause I wasn't interested in a portable PS2. I wasn't going to pay 300 for what appears to be a rehash of the PS2, albeit in portable form.

I'll pay $180 for it though. I like Ape Escape.

If I was Nintendo, and could swing it, I'd blow Sony out of the water by dropping the price of the DS to even lower. That'd just slap 'em in the eye. :smt023

Which leads me to the question: How much money is Sony losing on the PSP? :smt042

Hah, get back on them for what they did to Sega at the 1995 E3! :smt071

  8. Yeah, that really wasn't a good move on their part, making the DS GBA compatable and all that. Yes, it was good in that the people that already bought a GBA and are interested in the DS will be able to play their old (though not too old - boo no Z80 support :angry ) library on it, but that leaves little compelling reason for new users to buy a GBA with that sortof backward compatability. It's more like two and a half pillars, with two of them sortof merging into one... They're going to have a hard time keeping the DS brand seperate from their GameBoy brand as they had stated was their intention at its unveiling, and part of me almost wonders if they've sortof dropped that whole idea.

I'm not saying the DS lineup is all hams and plaque, but at least it's got a new Mario game on it. THere's not ONE PSP title that shines. Metal Gear is the only massive name that has potential, but it's not a true MG game, is it?

No telling who'll have the better lineup by summer, but the DS has 2 games on the horizon I want, the PSP zero, so I know which one I'll buy.

MGS Acid is a card based strategy game, of sorts. TBH, I hate MGS and think it is incredibly over-rated.

I like Ape Escape though...no other games interest me. Same ol' PS2 licensed shlock. :smt009

Yes, I'm looking at you, THUG 2.

MGS is one of the best gaming serie ever, imo. in the top 5 for sure.

I'm really enamoured with the announced Darkstalkers/Vampire Chronicle title on the PSP, but I've already got my DS preorder and there are lots of interesting games on the horizon for that bad boy. Plus I still have a few reserves about the battery life and how easy it is to scratch that large screen. That and what sort of DRM crap is going to be in place as far as the music goes.

And I'm a stubborn bastard who doesn't want to lug around two handhelds. :smt043

Hey, that's cool, I guess I just don't "get it"--it's not fun. High production values, incredible graphics, excellent product--but it just doesn't seem very fun to me.

To each his own, I guess. There's legions of fans. :)

I've never played an MGS game, for the record... just Metal Gear on the NES some ages ago.

The biggest let down (don't laugh) was Puzzle Bobble Pocket. I think it's a port from the Neo Geo Pocket version -- it looks like shit!

Of course there are some PS2 games that I like. I'm a massive Initial D fan but I don't find it worth buying a PS2 just for that game. There are other games on the system that are good but like I said, they don't interest me enough to buy a system that's just going to take up more space than I care to give it. Anyway, at the moment I'm quite happy in myt Retro state. having a great time playing some classics.

PS: It is true that I really disslike the PlayStation pad though. Never liked it since it was released back in the 90's. Same goes with the 3DO and N64 pads. Best pads ever are the SFC pads by ASCII (originals also good), Japanese Saturn pad and maybe the Mega Drive 6 button pad. Never really liked the DC pad that musch for fighting games though. Really need the ASCII Fighting pad of an arcade stick.

I used to be tha same actually but you do get used to the PS2 pads after a while.

Pick up a PS2 for about £60 and buy a few cool games. You won't be dissapointed. GT series justifies that price alone

Initial D on the PS2 is a brilliant game - I just wish I knew what I was doing in it :)

Update. Sony's considering downloading and running demos from the mem-card.

Would be sweet and would open the door to all manner of homebrew gear(Emu's and DivX Players for example).
Also cool that a "flash cart" could still be possible for an optical based unit. Hell you would be probably gte more battery life by using "backups" :smt043

Jordered my PSP value pack from Play asia right now, have you guys seen rge racers???It looks fucking incredible!!!That and the prospect of more games with graphics like that and the fact I can watch Star Wars on the train has sold me.

Play Asias price is unbeatable, you can't even seem to get one imported from japan for that price.
