hi, i have this psx desr 7700 and I’m so happy (at first) But this psx wont accept disc, it always reject every disc (cd music, game, video, dvd, everything) it will auto eject the disc Is that lens problem? And what type of lens should i look for replacement? One more thing i try (many times) installin FMCB but it only shows mcboot logo and then blank.. could somebody had the working psx share with me, what should i do, this psx really made me happy and angry at the same time lol Thank you
If FMCB logo shows up - great, two things you have to check: FMCB configuration and uLaunchelf version. I usialy set uLe as default boot option. If configuration is fine then try different uLe versions. Don't remember what uLe should work on 7700 but that's the cause sometimes.
It sounds like it might be a disc problem - although the DESR has two optical pickups (one for the DVR and one for the PS2), the discs are always checked using the DVR side first, so if that optical pickup is bad then it won't read anything. The pickup should be a Sanyo SF-DB11.
Is it a fully functional set? Does the XMB actually work? FMCB doesn't actually support the XMB (hence there is no such thing as a "hacked XMB", as a counterpart to "hacked OSDSYS"), so it just boots the XMB if there is nothing for FMCB to do.
Yes i think it’s fully functional (except disc tray) i already play recorded tv show, sample music, and sample picture.. but since disc tray is always rejecting disc, i think fmcb (with OPL) is really life saver, if it can boot fmcb, my next plan is replace the lens (but have no idea how to open this big thing)
I don't think it is an optical block problem because read errors don't cause it to eject the disc... Anyway, are you using the latest version of FMCB? Some very early releases did not support the PSX correctly.
http://thepsx.blogspot.com.au/2014/08/playstation-x-optical-drive.html check the top half of the drive mechanism, if it's physically rejecting discs check that (there is 2 limit switches and a optical sensor) I have some full teardown photos here somewhere. 1> Lay system down 2> Remove the BIG rubber feet off the grey sides 3> Remove screws 4> Use long flat tool to lift up the metal retention clip holding on the two grey sides, slide sides off After that the disassembly is different depending on revision
